So I am considering picking one up and had some questions regarding the actual programmable patchbay functionality:
1. When you store "scenes" will the unit also store patch change information? So if I wanted to recall (example) Scene 2 it routes Input 1 to Output 2, can it also change the patch automatically on the box connected to Output 2?
2. Are you able to switch through said scenes through the Pedal Jack?
I guess thats it! I've been trying to find more information on this and am basically looking for a glorified programmable patchbay to use in live situations (not connected to a computer). Any help would be great!
Thanks in advance,
Adam

Hi, I have one of these that I use to connect 3 drum modules, 2 computers, 2 digital mixers, & 2 outboard effects boxes together... To say it will route is an understatement. It is far more effective if you have a Mac to hook it to though. I'm not sure if this is a MOTU term, or MIDI industry, but it has functionality for what they call a "MIDI Canon". Unfortunately, I haven't found a way for that to work without a Mac (of which I don't have). So what it DOES have is the ability to accept & react to patch changes, but seems to be limited to 15 which they refer to as "basic setups". When it receives patch number X, on channel number Y, on connected port number Z, it will change to a different basic setup. The pedal inputs will handle whatever MIDI parameters you can throw at it, & the 4 knobs on the front are assignable as well. I suggest you go to the MOTU sight & look for the MIDI driver. While there you will see where you can download Clockworks (the configuration console that interfaces the box), & with it the ops manual for the MTPAV. Also, if you do any recording/synching kinds of tasks, it works very well as a synchronizer.
It's very fast too, I haven't noticed any lag in it at all. I just wish it was a little less prejudiced against non-mac users.
