Monitoring plug ins during recording

Post by Project Nairb 1 »

Does anyone know how I can monitor an insert plug in while recording in DP5?
I want to record an electric guitar while hearing the real time processing of Amplitube as I record. I would also like to use this method to perform live.
Right now my plug ins only work during playback.

Thanks alot for your help!!

Go to Setup / Configure Audio System / Input Monitoring Mode and change the setting to "monitor record enabled tracks through effects."

Warning: when you do that, you introduce latency into the system. Thus what you hear will be delayed by however large a buffer is required by your computer. If you've got a very fast computer and can keep the buffer to about 256, and if it will still run Amplitube at that buffer, then all is good. You'll hear the delay, but chances are that it will be tolerable.

Most often DP users record while monitoring directly through the hardware so that there is no latency. Then they hear the effects when they play it back. We try to keep latency down to 128 when recording.
