You got a witness right here! :) So much so, I had time last night to build a vocal booth since I am focusing on other problems. I had a vocal booth building epiphany and had to execute the idea in a hurry before it went away. So far...awesome.

You got yourself another witness!!

Part of the evidence of 5.11's success is reflected in how the nature of the threads have changed recently. I am most encouraged by the positive reports coming in from those using a diversity of computer models with DP in UB. Different computers behave differently, but the forum appears to have much more of a collective sigh of relief now than it did back in the spring and summer as 5.0 and 5.1 first appeared.

I also think that MOTU got that most users are looking after a stable DAW instead of having a HUGE bundle of everything I can imagine of. I got scared when I first saw the first Version of DP5 with all the VI's and so on... And like everybody else, I was disapointed with DP5's unstability. But they did a lot of Q.A. on that DP5.11 and I guess it paid off. I'm pretty sure they also used our Q.A. by reading this board.

I have recently purchase a computer and loaded from scratch for a new project.

I have never had this flawless of an experience getting everything to work right the first time. It never used to be so easy.

(except a little hw issue last night that had nothing to do with DP it seems...)

Haven't had a crash yet *crosses fingers*....

"Can I get a witness?
Some kind of wonderful! Yeah, yeah, yeah."

Installed 5.11 the day it came out and I have been using it daily since then. I've had a total of ONE unexpected quit and I think it was Waves related.

...some kind o' wonderful!

Phil

Damn it! Now that song's stuck in my head.

5.11 is the bomb. This evening I directed a live concert with it as an audition, of sorts, for the president of one of the top Casino/resort operations in Las Vegas. This is an unprecedented opportunity for us, a rare kind of thing since the president of a company of this size almost never will take 2 hours of his time to go see a show like ours. He was blown away and loved the music. But as we were performing, I was watching that green wiper going across the screen in a consolidated window set, and it hit me just how far we've come with DP. We started working on this concert back when the original Performer was still in black and white, and the Tracks Overview Window just looked like a grid of large rectangular blocks. No, wait... our VERY first arrangement was done in the Event List! It was two months later when DP added the graphic editing windows. THAT's how long we've been working on this stuff. And every step of the way, I've felt as though I was working in a state-of-the-art environment with the most reliable, most fascinating software written for the Macintosh. Tonight I felt that again in 5.11. Total reliability. I could focus on cueing accurately without worry about something going wrong.

There have been hundreds of concerts and presentations since we began, and DP has never faltered. Not once. It has grown into an amazing DAW. Prior to 5.11 I was getting worried that we were not going to see it return to the OS9 levels of speed and reliability, but somehow MOTU pulled out all the stops and blew our socks off with the revisions and bug fixes delivered in DP 5.11. I'm not saying it's perfect; no DAW ever is or will be. But it's finally lived up to its old reputations, and a lot of people are genuinely thrilled by it, including me.

Yes, thrilling stuff indeed!
Fantastic that the project is almost(?) in full-bloom, bud.
I can imagine the satisfaction involved.

I just love DP testimonies.
I just love DP.

Amen

Don't let McDonalds hear you say that; they'll want a commision or they'll ban you from sayin' it.
Still, it's like "snappy"; it belongs with DP.
