How to bounce to disk using external FX?

I‘m new to DP, actually, that‘s the first project I‘m mixing in DP 4.52 (I‘m prety good with PT LE).
The thing is I have two external FX units with it‘s returns routed to AUX tracks in DP.
Since DP bounces faster than real time... the FX doesn‘t sound on the bounce.

What‘s the best way to do this other than printing FX to audio tracks?

I use many external FX. Here is what I do

I send all the outputs of all tracks and effects etc. directly to another aux. On this fader (which sort of becomes a master fader) I put any master compression or limiting. Then, on the aux send of this new aux(master fader), I send (at unity gain) to a buss that is the input of an empty track on which I wish to record my final mix. And then record it down in real time.
Dual 2.0, OS 10.4.3, DP4.52, MOTU 828 MKII, IK Plugs, Plugsound, Mach 5, Waves 5.0.

Ok, so you avoid bounce to disk... that‘s a good option...

Just curious, Nixon-

at what staged you go outboard- on the individual tracks before they get routed to the aux track, or do you use sends from the aux track and bus the returns directly to the audio record track?

How do you deal with latency using real time outboard bussing?

The key point is that using outboard effects is a real-time process because you are streaming the audio (whether as analog or digital audio), rather than reading it directly from a file, as a plug-in could effectively do in a bounce-to-disk.

Therefore, running a mix with outboard effects requires a real-time record at some point, whether you print the effects to tracks and then bounce or run the effects through aux returns and record the whole mix.

I have a mixing console, so I bring all of the DP tracks (digitally) and the effects returns into that and then run a real-time record to a "bounce" track in DP (again, going digitally from the mixer into the MOTU interface).

I have a template setup that has the outputs of my 828 named as to what device they are feeding (ie. Quadraverb2) and the inputs named as what device they are returning from (ie Q2 Return)

Then, in my sends, I can select this to send audio from any track directly to this reverb just like any other. I then use the aux track already created in my temple with "Q2 Return" as it's input to recieve the direct reverb (set to 100% wet mix) into my overall mix. Adjust send and return levels accordingly just like the "old days". Then I set the outs of ALL tracks and auxes to another unused stero buss and drive this thru another aux set to my default audio output for monitoring. If you don't want to add any MASTER processing, you can arm a stereo track and record the mix via the same buss you are sending to this master fader. Or, if you want to add mastering FX, do so on this new aux/master and use the send on this channel to create a new stereo buss carrying all your mastered audio. Record it to an empty track.

Seems complicated, but if you set it up in a template with all your aux send and returns, and this pre mastering chain, it is a no brainer.

Yes latency can be an issue, so the only external efx I use are reverbs because the delay is usually unnoticable, or I can dial back the Predelay on the verb to compensate; and good verb is a CPU hound on a native system. If I can remove that burden, I can load up on other fx.
