ADAT to SPDIF Question

Post by wpzad »

I just bought a 8pre and am very happy with the sound. It's a lot more defined than my M-Audio Duo. The only issue I have is I didn't research everything and I no longer have a SPDIF output to go to the back of my stand-alone burner (which the Duo has). Is there an inexpensive way of converting the ADAT optical out to SPDIF? At the moment I'm running the 8pre output to my board and then the balanced analog signal to the burner. It works fine (after I change my output settings on the board) but I'd just rather stay in the digital domain and not have to change the output settings. I've also gone from the 8pre to the Duo but the Duo changes the sound. Any ideas?

Have you seen M-Audio's ProFire Lightbridge?

32-channel Lightpipe I/O at 44.1 or 48kHz
16-channel Lightpipe I/O at 88.2 or 96kHz using SMUX
S/PDIF I/O (via included breakout cable, coax)
Two ¼••
6,1 MacPro, 96GB RAM, macOS Monterey 12.7.6, DP 11.33
