I have a 324 card with my 2408 and I want add a 24 i/o.
Can I use the 324 card with the 24 i/o interface?
Thanks for your time.

Seems a bit rough.
MOTU "brags" about the interchangeability of interfaces and their compatibility with 324/424 systems on that very page.
Why the 24I/O, then?
Dang, I'm buying one soon and didn't realise this.
Thanks, elmarq, and tough-luck, microstudio!

PS: Microstudio, if you can do without the 24 extra outputs, perhaps the 24i will do the trick?

If I am not mistaken all the "newer" interfaces that support 192k all require the 424 card. Not sure why, but it appears the 324 card doesn't work with 192k?monkey man wrote:Seems a bit rough.

Could be the newer AudioWire protocol.
I s'pose they increased the max. bandwidth for the cables.
Impressive that they also added an extra AW input on the 424 card.
Usually increased sample rates mean diminishing channel-counts.
Not in MOTU AudioWire land, it seems.
