I'm having the strangest problem with 4.5 and MIDI. The MIDI tracks do not give me a choice of inputs, it's just grayed out and I don't know why. I've updated all my drivers for osx, firewire, usb, MIDI and all of motu's updates. When I go into the window that lets you monitor the MIDI activity, I see the little green light blink when I strike a key, but still I get no choices on the input list. Is there something different in 4.5 from 4.12 that one must select or switch on to make MIDI function properly? I've tried every combination of computer/hardware choices I can think of.
thanks for your help

Re: problem with 4.5 and MIDI
Okay, I've tried it on two macs with the same results:
a dual g4 1.5 ghz running os 10.2.8
a powebook g4 running 10.3.9
I've tried it on a midisport 4x4 and using the motu 828mkII MIDI: I get the same results on both
I'm using an Akai AX60 to trigger the MIDI
Software, I'm using DP4.5, and I'm using the latest drivers off motu's website (I can't remember their exact numbers, but they are the most recent).
In audio MIDI setup, I created a new device set up, and put the out from the new device into the in of the MIDI device (either the 4x4 or the 828mkii)
As I said earlier, in DP I can see the lights blink on the MIDI activity window, but the MIDI track won't let me select an imput. So it seems to me that is some setting in DP that needs to be changed, but I've tried about everything I could think of and nothing changes it.
Thanks for your help, I hope this gives you enough information.

Re: problem with 4.5 and MIDI
1.Try checking "Multi Record" from the DP4.52 "Studio" Menu
2. Setup/Configure Audio System/Input Monitoring Mode ..."monitor record-enabled tracks thru effects" & "Always"
Just guessing from how you described your MIDI chain.
