Best FTP
What is a good FTP application for OSX-Tiger?
I would like something that has a drag-and-drop user interface that would show the local file directory and the FTP-remote file directory. I need something inexpensive. I use Ipswitch FTP on the PC and it works well for me.
I know that Finder is supposed to be able to be used for FTP but I have not been able to make it work for some reason, so always turn back to my PC. I know I can go the Command-Line route, but would prefer something more user-intuitive with a lower learning curve.
Suggestions?

I second James on Transmit. Really like it.
Alternately, FTP is built into OS X.
Enter a link in safari -- example click this:
ftp://rolandmusik.de/pub/fotos/
The server will mount on your desktop
Or In the finder, command K brings up the "connect to server" dialog -- enter your ftp address and it mounts on the desktop.

Unfortunately the Finder FTP works with some servers and not others, so I tend to not trust it.
Fetch has been the de facto FTP client for years, but it's not free. I also like CyberDuck, which is an open source FTP/SFTP client that is stable & fast. It even comes with its own widget.
Many people like Transmit - it wasn't my cup o' tea...but I'm very picky about how I like to work.

Not all who wander are lost.

I use CuteFTP Pro. It looks and works like a Finder window. Unfortunately, it's not free, but it does have a free trial period.

Transmit's the easiest to use, the most full-featured, the most reliable, and one of the only ones written from scratch for OS X vs. ported from OS 9.
It is my third FTP program. The first one was unreliable, and the second one went out of business and didn't work after the next OS X upgrade. I forget the names of both of them.
I downloaded several trial versions of the four or five most popular and/or most recommended programs before settling on Transmit.
They are the most communicative and responsive with customers as well.
The only thing is, I haven't had a need to use this program for a year now, as I use YouSendIt.com for most stuff nowadays. Every now and then I hit a legacy FTP site though, so it's still handy to have a dedicated program.
