Macbook hard drive size?

Hi all,
Sorry for a dumb question, but I have a black macbook 80gb I'd like to upgrade to a 120gb or larger since I have only 4gb left. When I look at the"about this mac" it seems like I have a bigger drive than 80gb, perhaps 120. Like some space is not usable. Can anyone clarify this for me? Also any suggestions on a drive would be great as well.

3 years ago I installed a Hitachi 60Go 7200rpm in my older Powerbook. Worked OK.

In my Macbook I just slipped a Seagate 100Go 7200rpm. Astonishing silence. No noise at all, even close listening.
And its comes with a 5 years waranty.

It sounds like you need to get the bigest drive you can, you have already filled the 80G so you will likely fill the 120. The more your drive is filled the slower it can get for a number of reasons. The reason drives are never as big as stated is that when you format set up and format infomation is given a chunk of the drive. You may also try a usb or fire wire drive. I would use the external drive as a storage drive, as a number of people have said they had problems recording with them.
