896hd on a Mac Pro - should I do?
After working under Windows for long years finally I‘m thinking seriously to get a new Mac Pro, the 2,66 model. I would like to know about your experiences working a MOTU 896hd (my interface) under this system.
Thank you for your support! Hope it let me know what to do!.
Grettings to all!

yup. I was on a Powerbook for a while until I just bought my Intel Quad Mac Pro with 4 gigs ram. Using the 896 and all well so far.Dynamitastudios wrote:Nobody tried on Intel MAC?????
Unless you count the various times my interface decides not to let any output out.... I have to restart the computer to 'reset' itself.
I have the latest drivers blah blah blah so I think it's just an Intel bug.
Don't do it
A lot of people are having problems with the Mac Pro and their 828. Me included. Really annoying...

Zap it!
Just to update, this is the simplest of fixes, and can go un-noticed by even the most avid mac user, but try Zapping the Pram, I finally got my G5 3gig and my 828mkii to finally work past 15mins! Life deals some wierd cards sometimes.

I dove into the deep end in the summer. Upgraded my computer to a Macbook pro, ditched Protools, bought DP and an 896HD. I also (foolishly) bought Waves convolution reverb at around the same time. The guys at the store said it would work but obviously in hindsight I should have done more homework.
Anyway at first it was horrendous. Crashes all the time. Tried all kind of things and finally it got manageable when I ditched the Waves software.
However after the most recent DP upgrade (5.11) I've got the Waves IR1 back and it seems to be working just fine, thanks very much for asking (and touch wood).
The waves website still says that intel isn't supported on DP but mine seems to be chugging away OK now. I'm a pretty happy camper and getting used to DP after years of Protools and liking it very much.
