Martin Sitter from mac@provideo.com has some great quicktime movie tutorials that will get you using Logic fast. I can't recommend this enough!

I really enjoy using both programs and feel that I am most productive using both. What does not work in one program usually works in the other, especially when it comes to plug-ins. Yes, it did take me time to learn Logic, I have been a DP user since it was Performer. But, I did projects in DP and learned Logic slowly.

Just my two cents!

can't comment on the MIDI,cause i hardly use it, but I can't stand logic's lay out and way of kludgeing stuff up.
I know you can do it all in Logic but WTF is apple taking this app, I wish they had never bought Emagic.
I hope to god MOTU stays independent and small,because IMO that's what makes them work their ass off to please us users.

I agree! DP really has it together, and I hope that Apple gives Logic their full attention and does not turn it into Garage Band! It seems that Apple is getting to be more concerned with pleasing the non musician and not spending time with their pro applications. Logic has its share of problems for sure and I hope that Apple gets it together.

I am still a DP fan through and through. But like I said, there are features in Logic, that I really like! Should be room in the world for two great programs!

I would not say that! My system seems to work fine, but others are having some isssues! DP is also working well for me. I am a MIDI happy guy. As much as I would like to install Tiger, everying is working at my studio right now. No down time, lots of writing and composing. I am in software heaven.
No upgrades right now for me! FYI: I think that DP is much hipper than ProTools, especially on the MIDI side.

jason, "MIDI timing" on these 2 platform is the same.
MIDI timing it depends from other factors...hardware,your preference ,ecc...

Both L7 and DP are great. I will say this. I am working on a film project in L7 right now and it is really getting on my nerves. Once you get even a dozen tracks going way into a film the GUI really starts to bog down. I keep loading up DP (1.42 at the moment) wishing I was working on that and if it wasn't for the director's instance on using the Sculpture synth in Logic I would be. I am upgrading to 4.52 tomorrow myself.

If you work with audio, the drag soundbite-to-change-it's-length feature in DP is a real lifesaver. You can make sloppy harmony vocals line up. You can change guitar licks. I can't imagine working without it.
This has nothing to do with MIDI timing, but everything to do with choosing a professional-grade program.

Um...no you can't actually. You can turn on the new 'follow tempo' feature and you get time stretching based on tempo but Logic does not have a simple way to time stretch by just dragging. This feature is uniqque to Cubase and DP.
