changing my set up

Post by scottchristy »

I'm in the process of making some changes to my studio and was looking for somw insight or advice. I'm considering getting rid of my digital board (Ramsa DA7) and using some racked pres (API, NEVE) on the front end. I'm also considering using the Neve 8816 or another summing mixer on the back end. I've never worked without a board before, so am a little nervous. But I do 99% of my mixing and processing ITB (DP4.6). Another option I've thought about is just adding a vintage style analog mixer up front and then bring submixes back out of the 2408 to the mixer (avoiding the need for a summer and the racked pres). Any advantages or things to watch out for? Or is it just a matter of working preference? I appreciate your valuable input!

it is just a matter of working preference. I like a mixer so that I can send a feed out to the head phone amps with out the latency from the computer.
