Selecting Regions / Repeat Command

Post by barryjohns »

I am new to DP, got up and running pretty quick and like it so far. The only issue that is driving me crazy and that I can't figure out is this.

When I select an audio region, it turns yellow. Now from here I can move, nudge, etc. Great. However, if I want to use the repeat function, it won't work this way. In logic, that's how it would work. Now, I figured out that I needed to go inside the region and actually select the waveform and then repeat. The problem with this, is it is tedious. Sometimes depending on what my zoom level is, I may not select it all.

What am I missing? It should be as ease as select the region and cut/copy/paste/repeat from there.

Thanks,

Barry

I knew it had to be that easy. I couldn't find this in the manual. I'm sure it's there though.

Thanks,

It's a drag that when a soundbite is selected it's boundries are not entered into the Selection start and end. However if one hits Option-Shift-Up/Dwn Arrow (Move Selection Up/Down), the Selection will move to an adjacent track and register in the Start/End fields.

In short, hit Option-Shift-Up Arrow and then Option-Shift-Dwn-Arrow (or Option-Shift-Both Arrows) to make the highlighted Soundbite into a Selection.
Note that there needs to be more than one track in the Sequence window for Move Selection to work.

Anthonie,
What is Option {i}? I've never used that one.
The default key command for the Repeat funtion is Command-R.

Guys, Opt R does not work for me. When I select a region, it highlights yellow. I can copy and paste but not repeat. I hve to go inside the region, highlight the waveform and then I can repeat. Is there a setting somewhere I can change how this works. I'd like it to be BAM done. Select, quick Command R and enter the number of times, BAM done. Not zome in, hope I slected all of the wave form and then the rest.

What I am doing wrong?

Ok, After playing with it. Now keep in mind, I couldn't find anything about this in the online help or the manual. I'm sure it's there, but I would think it would be easy to find.

Using the I-beam tool, Double Click the region and then you can use all the edit commands, inlcuding repeat. Marquee tool does not work, which is the arrow and the universal tool icon for select. Go figure that one out.
