DP keeps messing w/ my DigiHardwareConfig

Post by jeronimo »

Almost all the time I open DP 4.5.2 under 10.3.7 it messes w/ my digidesign hardware config, it switches the ADAT inputs OFF.
What can be happening?

I had the same problem all the time - went back to 4.12! No problems now - and I had maybe 50 problems with the upgrade too - no idea why this happens -

jeronimo,

you might have some kind of word clock problem. Try at first to set your DAE audio interface (whatever that may be) to internal sync clock. Then go from there. I've definitely had my share of problems with DP 4.52. It's been acting very quirky. I've done all I can do to clean it up. But strangely enough it is very stable in DAE audio mode.

On my setup I have a RME ADI8-DS set as MASTER and my 001 set as slave, always worked like this.
I monitor thru RME‘s outputs 1 and 2 (9-10 on the digi coreaudio setup).
Most of the times I open DP 4.52 it switches OFF the ADAT digital in/out on the 001. That‘s what‘s happening, any idea?

I've had the same problem. Each time I fire up PT after running DP 4.52 I have to run a template setup of ProTools to set everything back again BEFORE going into a new project.

Be sure you check which version of the DAE engine you are running against the digi website compatibility lists. Only cetain configurations work without blowing up.
http://www.digidesign.com/ You may also find that 10.3.7 is the culprit. I having less problems on the HD2 rig with DP with 10.3.5. Try that.

Also know that DP does not always see all the digi hardware you may have. When running 4.52 or earlier, DP ignored my Sync I/O. [?!?] Still does but I can at least run a project and DP does not seem to mind. [?]

I don‘t think going back to 10.3.5 is an option right now... but, maybe in a few weeks I‘ll be able to downgrade.
So, I‘m not the only one with this problem... maybe we have to wait a little to see if MOTU or Apple sort this problem with an update.

Any news on that? I‘m still having this problem. Now, after I bounce to disk, my config is all messed up... any ideas?

clocking issues via optical too.. 001 & DP4.6.1

Post by charleslee »

hi guys,
i think this is an old thread, but i'm having similar problems too.

I have the RME ADI-8 PRO, Digi 001 and a MOTU Digital TimePiece (DTP).

ADI-8 PRO ADAT In/Out to Digi 001
ADI-8 PRO (set to Internal Clock) BNC WORD CLOCK OUT to DTP (set to Internal/Word 1x)
DTP SPDIF OUT TO Digi 001

in Pro Tools (LE), I could use "Optical" (ie. direct from ADI-8 ) as my Clock source. But when i fire up DP, i'll get problems, clicks/pops ie. clocking issues. then if i close it. go to Digisetup and change clock to SPDIF and then in DP switch clock to "digital" again, i'm fine.

but the same thing will happen if i switch sample rates between jobs.

i was using digi's 6.4 coreaudio drivers initially. then i read this thread, and attempted 6.9's coreaudio drivers (digi supposedly stopped suppoting 001 at 6.4LE, but 6.9's coreaudio drivers apparently works for me!!). same issue.. i jumped straight from 6.4 to 6.9.. should i try the inbetweens??

ok sorry for long story.. so the issue is, how come i cannot clock the 001 via ADAT Optical (directly from the ADI-8 ) when i am in DP?

Thanks & Regards,
[Charles]
