reverse audio and invert phase

Post by JSMITH8763 »

What is going on with reverse audio and invert phase plugins. I just installed DP 5.1 on a new Mac Pro. I can see the plugin bundles in the folder they are supposed to be in, but they do not look like the others. They are there in the folder but do not show up when I try to find them in a project.

I am sure it is something stupid that I can't think of right now. I am just frustrated.

I thought this was rectified in DP 4.12. This is from MOTU's website:
File Name: rev_invert.hqx
Type: audio_plug
Date: 2004/09/22
Language: english
Version: 1.01
Size: 1.4MB
Platform: Mac OSX
Reverse & Invert Phase Plug-in Updates for DP 4.12
Install contains update versions of the Reverse and Invert Phase v.1.01 plug-ins for DP 4.12.
Here's the link:

Let us know how you resolve the problem. Thanks.

Well I still don't have an answer. Thanks 666 for trying. I already went to the MOTU downloads and did the update just in case. It still is the same problem. I have no reverse or invert phase plugins available in a project. In the mas plugin folder I see them there, but they aren't even labeled the same as all the other plugins. Maybe they aren't UB or something???

Is anyone else missing these with DP5.1? I guess I will keep digging. If anyone has any ideas, I could sure use the help!!

Thanks

Where are you looking for them?

I have Invert Phase in the Mixer Inserts, but not Reverse. However, not all plugins are Insert plugins. Some are 'invisible' audio edit plugins. (I can't explain why your Invert Phase is not appearing properly, tho...)

Try checking your Audio menu> Audio Plugins to see if both are there. Both Invert Phase and Reverse are in this menu on my computer.

If not...

I would suggest dragging those two plugins into the trash-- empty trash, and then just do a custom install for MAS. The files usually sort themselves out, unless there is some other problem.

Now, it is no secret that some of MOTU's install discs have been faulty of late. MOTU was very good about replacing DP 5.x install discs where the install was not executing properly.

If the plug-ins are present and don't load, I would suggest you to check their permissions (manually).
Are you using the same account you used to install DP? I've had several problems with some Motu plug-ins because of wrong permission settings, preventing other user's to access them. Compare the permissions of the plug-ins that work with the ones that don't. Compare not only the plug-ins bundle, but also the files inside it and then delete the plug-ins cache file (inside your Library/Preferences), forcing DP to scan them again.

It could be that those plugins arrived corrupt on the install disc. It's rare but not improbable.

Enough people are struggling with installation and crashes on Intel-Macs that I really think MOTU should get involved with this solution. These brick walls on install with new projects and no plugins don't reflect well.

Frodo,
I do not have either of them show up in the audiomenu/ audio plugins. I also can't do a custom install from the DP5 disk for some reason. It only has two options easy install and uninstall.

One other thing I noticed is that all my other plugins are labeled (universal) and the two that are not showing up in the audio menu are labeled (powerPC). Could you check yours and see if maybe this could be the problem.

96khz,
Thanks for the info. I tried looking at the permissions and everything is fine. I also tried the cache with no luck.

Thank you both for the help!! Maybe this is a corrupt disk.
