MIDI quantize gone awry strange fix

motu tech support stumped by this: when recorded MIDI data is selected and quantized, the data moves randomly and weirdly as if a strange offset had been selected. No offset was selected.
However, input quantize does work.
1/4 notes, 1/8 notes..it doesn't matter and believe me I've tried everything.
I've been using performer and all it's upgrades for 15 years and never had this happen. I've trashed the prefs, loaded all the driver updates and finally installed DP5.1 to see if that would work. No luck. sooo...Ronan, at Motu came up with this fix:
create a new User Account and LogIn and open up DP in that account.
It worked!!! MIDI quantize is back. But what a pain to create a whole new User acct. just to run DP. Any ideas of what this could be?
