Soundtrack Pro also does a pretty good job of cleanup, though I found with clicks/pops analysis, you sometimes have to run it multiple times to get things under control. I used it a lot for some of the same issues you're describing for a low-budget horror movie I edited. Can't compare it to Soundsoa...

Love it. I use it with DFHS and it makes things so much easier. Still on 4.61 though, where the Drum Editor is crapped out, so if you have luck with the DE on 5.x, please post and let us know. Haven't heard whether or not the DE is fixed in the latest release.

Thanks,

I'd highly recommend the Front End Audio mod if you want to get more out of the DSub outs, if you're thinking of using those. Makes the outputs much more useful if you're routing them somewhere.

Assembling Surround Project

I'm finishing up a feature, ~90 minutes, 5.1 Surround, started in FCP Studio. I have a FCP parent sequence that contains all 21 subsequences (movie scenes), so that I can just slap my film look on there without having to add it to 21 sequence "clips" in the subsequence. I also use the pare...

Damn! Finally, someone reports in on DP5. Man, it sucks that you had to bring the bad news, but this is the main reason (along with 500 other bug posts) that I haven't upgraded. I sent an email to tech support to inquire whether or not this had been fixed in DP5 when it was released, and got a "...

hmm..i'll try the 1176 and see if that does it. i have a focusrite voicemaster pro. i've never tried to get a distortion out of that. how would i set that up? I used to have one of those as well. I'd just set up the mic and start moving knobs, especially on the EQ and compressor areas of that thing...

Just use whatever works for you. I think it's a bit much (whoever said it pages ago) to bash Dangerous based on this debate. They make some great ••••, and I am a big fan of my 2Bus LT. I'm with the fader fans. Riding a vocal with a mouse - what's fun about that?

Yuck. I'm not saying that for the obvious reasons, but when is Sinatra not enough? Hell, even Harry Conick Jr. does a better job than that guy.

I disagree with the earlier post that T-Racks is a disappointment. I use it constantly and I think it's great. You just have to have a fair amount of experience with compressors, limiters and eq's, T-racks isn't really an instant gratification plug. Had to post and come back to eat a few words. Due...

Well, it turned out to be a 1 GB pair of Kingston Value RAM. I guess I learned my lesson there! Certainly a relief though.

G5 Power Mac Fuzzed Out

Hey, all. I was working on a project (4.61, Tiger) and suddenly the sound dropped out completely and the screen froze. So, I took a breath and powered the G5 down by holding in on the power button. I waited a few seconds, started it back up, heard the initial chime, then heard a fairly horrendous so...

On racking your current tower, it's pretty easily done. I racked my two PCs with $70 black 4U cases a few years back. Just make sure you've got good airflow and plenty of fans in there (the case should come with them, most likely). Sure does clean things up as far as cosmetics go.
