I was/am a pro tools user for 5 years now. I feel that pro tools is an excellent audio editor, but a ho-hum app for MIDI and compsing at best....maybe PT7 is a step in the right direction....we'll see. Bottom line on the above subject is that DP is much better at audio then PT is at MIDI and picture...

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Is your current system "dialed in" and stable?

2. Do you see yourself using the new features of 4.6?


That being said, I have a very solid system similar to yours running 4.6 like a champ. (G4 dual 1 gig/2 gig ram/10.39/Ivory/Absynth/Waves).

Tascam FW1884 here too. It's made my DP workflow much more efficient, and it's excellent for monitoring a multiple computer and synth setup with or without DP running.

NI Absynth would fit the bill nicely.

DP 4.6 has been 100% solid on my powerbook 1Gz/1Gig runing 10.39.

I still have 4.52 on the same machine just incase, but I've never had to revert back to that as 4.6 has been reliale for me.
