Re: Extended numeric keyboard commands on a laptop?
https://pqrs.org/osx/karabiner/ That software will allow you to use keypad shortcuts on any OS X computer. Open preferences and just search 'keypad' for the option you want. "Use old style fn keypad" works great. It's also amazing software for other things. Thanks. That is just the ticket...

Extended numeric keyboard commands on a laptop?
I've just got a new (old) laptop hand-me down. I'm really used to using the extended usb numeric keyboard for commands like record "3" etc. Is there an easy way to replicate common commands like "3" for record using just the laptop keyboard? OR Do I need to just set up my own ver...

Re: Freeze track options to recover resources?
bit confused. You say you DON'T want volume info copied over into your new track, but you then say you WANT the volume automation copied over?? When you freeze a track it uses the volume automation and mutes and then converts that to audio. I need to keep that as automation along with all the send ...

Freeze track options to recover resources?
I'm trying to find a method to recover sys resources with a mix that is slowly bogging down. If I use "freeze tracks" I get a new track added that has all insert plugs printed from the original. I also get mutes and volume info written to this audio. I don't want this so I have to disable ...

Re: DP Control Dead...Good alternative?
The Protools control app works well with DP. It's free. It has an overview, like a timeline, at the top which shows all the tracks and their assigned colour. It highlights the currently selected track and also the current bank. This makes selecting/moving around very easy. You can also assign a bunc...

DP and ProTools Control App
I've been mucking about with the free Protools Control App for the iPad. It works really well with DP. A few oddities but worth checking out if you want an alternative to V control free and the others. It ain't pretty but it has some nice functions. The panners are easier to use than V-control and y...

Re: Mixing Options and Plugins
I love all of the options that we have and continue to be offered to try and "engineer" a sound. We are truly lucky to have so many options at hand. I'm definitely not advocating a "back to wax" philosophy but I would buy the T-shirt. My main point (and it was late at night.....)...

Mixing Options and Plugins
I was extremely lucky to work in a facility that housed two Neve consoles and an early E series SSL. Add in a few EMI TG mastering consoles and you can probably work out where if you are an Aussie. Each studio would be hired with some included "outboard gear" and anything else you needed/w...

Re: New drum software recommendations?
The thing I really like about BFD2 and 3 is that you get control over sounds that have not been overly manipulated. It is like being presented with a great recording that you can change to suit your vision. Other programs give you more instant gratification but less ultimate control. As far as the G...

Re: Thinking about getting a mastering app... What do you us
I use DP and various plugs to generate my master files. I use mix snapshots to keep a step by step version of each mastering session so I can go back and fine tune if needed. Dp and various plugs are all I need for this. BUT.... I need to generate many formats and include with it as much metadata as...
