Re: 828Mk3 Firewire vs. 828Mk3 Hybrid
Thanks for the info. MOTU 828 mk3 FW arrived and appears to be working just fine with Firewire or standalone and doing everything I hoped for so far. If anyone can confirm for me, I have to use up two mixes (busses) if I want to patch both ins and outs, right? For example, I want to route RCA S/PDIF...

Re: 828Mk3 Firewire vs. 828Mk3 Hybrid
If I ever need thunderbolt 3, I would look into the Gigabyte GC-Titan Ridge Card for my Mac Pro 4,1 > 5,1 running OpenCore to see if that is a solution. Having said that, I am not sure how much money I am saving at this point holding on to a computer that is that old considering all the hacks and up...

Re: 828Mk3 Firewire vs. 828Mk3 Hybrid
Thanks Mike. I was looking into usb-2 because I have a mac pro 4,1 from 2009 that is hobbling along much like me her owner. It has firewire, but since the move to Monterey with OpenCore, my firewire devices aren't working (probably drivers, but who knows). I want to get a Moto 828 mk3 because it see...

Re: 828Mk3 Firewire vs. 828Mk3 Hybrid
The 828 mk3 Firewire only version's price is very low. Does anyone have experience with the cheap Firewire to USB adapters? I want to try to get it to work Monterey and even though I have firewire on my mac 2009 4,1, I haven't had luck with firewire devices since moving to Monterey. The 828 mk3 has ...

Re: Motu Express XT 2.0.1 rom
Well hopefully one day someone will dump their USB controller chip version XT 1.32 and uploaded it to the repository. I am fairly confident it can be done with an Arduino UNO board, which I have, but unfortunately I lack the understanding on how to do it. Tutorials are pretty useless to me because t...

Re: Motu Express XT 2.5.0 rom working in older MX-XTU model
I didn't notice this at first, but now yes, I do see that they are reversed. This made me wonder about the other two buttons, the panic and stripe, sadly, it seems these two are also switched. I am thinking about doing the mod pictured below. Right click and open the image in new window to see the c...

Speaking of ignoring, Mike, I've been trying to get you to reply to me for over two weeks. Are you getting my messages?

Motu Express XT 2.5.0 rom working in older MX-XTU model
The 2.5.0 rom chip seems to be working with important exceptions you need to be aware in the older Model XT-USB unit with a serial number beginning with MX-XTU and the USB controller chip being version XT 1.32. I tested with Notes, Program Change and SysEX, Clockworks, MIDI Setup and a JV-1010. I am...

Re: Motu Express XT 2.0.1 rom
Thanks for your help Mike, based on your posts, change the battery was the first thing I did. I ordered my ME XT OS 2.5.0 chip and will report back on if it works. It was cheap, about $20 shipped. I didn't bother to go the route of trying to burn the OS myself (if I were to find a legal source for a...

Re: Motu Express XT 2.0.1 rom
I have a unit that had the year 2001 os 2.0.1 eprom in it. The usb chip (I think) is XT 1.32 4E63 which is the same chip as this person (pic URL below) has in their unit from year 2002 and they have the 2.5.0 chip. I have found someone selling the 2.5.0 eprom, so I am wondering if it will work if I ...

Re: Motu Express XT 2.0.1 rom
I have an MX-XT serial number and the 2.01 rom with XT 1.32 rom. Why can't I use an OS 2.5 rom in this?
