In any case, I think Customer Service, rather than Tech Support, are a more appropriate target for this kind of correspondence. Well, a while back, I sent a long snail-mailed letter directed to either that department or maybe "Customer Relations", after having owned and observed a new 424...

Hard2Hear or another builder can answer more fully, but I'd guess the actual "core" OS will be similar in that regard. The difference may be more in how many add-ons and features are bundled in each and what the install defaults are (there's also that crap that nags you about hardware ID's...

Well first, " friends don't sell friends used MOTU gear ". Just joking (the subject sort of asked for it 8) ). I think MKI/II 2408's seem to have a decent life expectancy from stuff you read here. 2nd though, the 324 wasn't known for high compatibility with host stuff that came out after i...

I think their stuff is only 90 days unless it's different where you are. Either way, I wouldn't risk wasting any time on it. They may be nice about it and get you an RMA (under warranty).

Wishing you luck,

George

Well the "pending connections" thing can happen any time you load a project which was made while you had different ins and outs active on your audio hardware (or different audio hardware altogether). - no biggie You need to go into VST connections and re-assign the i/o to what you currentl...

Gruvpig, Those sound like standard Steinberg components for access to "regular" Windows sound hardware. I'm not sure where the MOTU ASIO software gets added or what else it modifies. There are some "pref resetting" steps for the apps that you can probably find in the Nuendo/Cubas...

user123, Not to make things seem hopeless, but Lexicon doesn't have the greatest history on long term support in the DAW world. I've got two of the Core2's, which showed up shortly after their Core32 or something else was discontinued, and they killed them soon thereafter, stranding people at Window...

Harry, That's probably good info for some here. If you've got time, you may want to tack that onto one of the longer 324 motherboard posts here from a while back. I grabbed a couple board models from people in the Nuendo forum a while ago, who had 324's, but there's never really been a definitive li...

Yes, as lmoe says, there's a bunch. Pretty much everything on the PC now supports ASIO devices (or can use the WDM drivers otherwise). This "Reaper" thing has somehow managed to make a really big splash in a really short time: http://www.cockos.com/products.php Could be worth a look, as it...

Rob, Sorry no real answer, but it would seem that with each of those boxes supposedly being capable of running fully loaded, and with a 424 being able to handle 4 simultaneous (loaded) 2408s,etc., it would seem like it should. Add to that the fact that they, or at least the 308, were around long bef...

Larry, Is 75 what it costs to get from the god-forsaken "original" 424 to the "x"? (I think last I checked, it had a "contact sales" rather than a price quote) I've had plans to upgrade my host on the back burner for a while, but figure I'll be SOL cardwise if I don't s...

They employ a "muffler" principle, by which the sound is passed through chambers in which it cancels itself out before exiting the box, and air is drawn through those chambers by a fan. Man, that's awesome! That's almost the exact same thing I did. I had a bunch of ideas/designs using ela...

Mikkydoos, I'm running an A7N8X-E deluxe here, which should be the same chipset, and running the original version of the 424, which should be the worst of them "compatibility-wise". The 424 does indeed seem to have a preference on slots. I'm pretty sure it's in the bottom one. I can double...

Magnbir, I'm not sure if it holds true for all USB2.0 externals, but I recently made the switch from removable IDE caddies, and was interested in the throughput as well. This new thing seems to max out at a constant sustained throughput of around 20M/sec, where I'm sure the drive inside it is capabl...

Gretsch, Don't mean to be a wet blanket, but keep in mind the B&W is still running somewhere around the range of a fast PII or slow P3. It should be great for tracking, but I wouldn't go overboard on maxing it out unless it's cheap or free stuff that you have access to (like memory). You have to...
