3- abso-effen-lutely, several in fact.
Actually - no. But as per your hint, this thread is likely done, dusted and put to bed.
Thanks all.
See you around in other threads.

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Timeline, interesting points about the history of MOTU and their uptake of user feedback and features generally. Like any company, their user-base are never exposed to the bigger picture of what the company plans are, and understandably so. For all we know there might be a private agreement between ...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Thanks Shoosh - nicely summed up. Jamwerks and Stephen - agreed. In sum - three things. 1. Dual panners on stereo tracks. Three selectable options makes sense: single mono panner on stereo track (as is currently available in DP) - OR - two knobs (left pan / right pan) - OR - two knobs (pan / width)....

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

@ Shooshie, Bayswater: Excellent. Awkwardness averted. Trust intact (there is a bigger picture to consider).
@ Mikehalloran - understood, thanks.

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Thanks Shooshie, I really do appreciate that info. My relationships with the dealers and retailers in my circle is (are?) something I value and respect deeply - trust and ethics are on the top of the list.
Thank you.

Seriously. Damn - I can assure you that was not the intention from either of us.
What a shame.

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Long-term trusted relationship with a retailer who installed it on my laptop and used his second auth to allow me to evaluate it for a couple of weeks while they are shut down for Christmas. It then gets trashed from my laptop when they re-open in the new year. I usually get dealer NFRs for products...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

The opposite for me. When editing a project in Logic, I port it over to DP, get my work done - much faster for me. Sweet - good to know. I suspected as much which is why I am giving DP a serious trot with a couple of days free. I have been using Logic since 1987 (C-Lab creator on Atari 1040ST) and ...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Thanks for all the input, especially those who have helped me so much, SWT, Radiogal, MLC and so on (apologies if I forgot a name or two). MLC - thanks re your previous post (honestly). It's all good. I have hung around the interwebby for a while now. To Shooshie. Ignoring the inaccuracies...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Nice holiday snap there MLC. David, I hope this helps you see where I am coming from. [img=http://s10.postimage.org/c34ylav9h/protools_s1_4_pan.jpg] You can see at a glance where the track placements are across the stereo panorama. You can also reach and grab for any pan on a control surface ...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Thanks Dave. I know the S1 really well. Great fix it in the mix tool and I love it in certain instances for many reasons. Getting work done fast is what I want. Insert one on a track - easy. Inserting on on every instance of a stereo track just to get basic pan - thanks but no thanks. CPU overheads ...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Matt, I read your post about going with Logic.. Please, read this one if you care about sound quality. Look at my signature and you´ll see I also have Logic in the studio. Big difference in sound! I´m not kidding! http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=48306 I know. I need no conv...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

MLC - I am very fortunate. The acoustics in one of the rooms I work in is widely recognised as being particularly spectacular. Lovely mics and players to boot and I am in heaven. I may have over 70 tracks (easy) in an orchestration. One TV show had over 100 tracks per 30 min show every week by the t...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

Tremo - agreed. The Cubase option of pan and width is really quite nice, extremely intuitive on screen, but also the dual panner makes more sense on a console (visual feedback). As you say, some choices would be lovely. I guess it surprised me because the choices in the surround panners was such a l...

Re: Say it isn't so? Only mono panners on stereo tracks?

You didn't know that they made a 16 core? Well, it's a little known fact, but when I am sleep deprived I tend to make mistakes. Blame MOTU - getting my head wrapped around this thing has taken me a bit. Just lucky I didn't say 24 core. Just checked - it's a 12 core. All I know is my menu mete...
