I'm having a similar problem with my 828 mk3 with an 8pre and a UA 4-710. Either one works when the other is off, but pops every 5 secs when both are on together. Tried everything I could think of, and no luck.

I am getting pops when I hook up them both up via optical. I've tried everything. Has anybody had luck expanding an extra 16 channels? The 8 pre doesn't have a clock out. Both units work on their own and on each of the banks. I'm lost. Also, can I hook the 8 pre up via FireWire? And hook up the 4-71...

As long as the Aphex has a SPDIF IN thru which it cab receive clock from the 828. If not, you can split the Clock and send to both the Behringer and Aphex. You'll need two BNC cables and a BNC "T" connector. You may want to buy a terminator, too. Search the web or check your products docu...
