Re: V-Racks in the Mixer
Well perhaps there are a few ways to use the V-Rack. I use to use it as a place to hold my AUDIO returns from VEP. and I am absolutely certain that you can't automate that. The buttons are gone. If there is a way, please tell me! I'd be excited to hear. Why automate that channel you ask? Plugins. Ye...

Re: Way to hear Volume Automation in real time?
I have Change Continuous Data as a quick key.. not sure if it defaults to that or not, but it's F8 for me. Maybe I set it that way years ago and just left it. It is an assignable key though. That is how I've always done adjusting automation in DP. and I actually prefer it. I think it actually trains...

Re: V-Racks in the Mixer
It doesn't bother most people who use V-Racks if other people choose not to. That's their business, and it doesn't even cloud the sky over our V-Racks, much less rain. We've known since the beginning that V-Racks don't have an automation channel. On the other hand, most virtual instruments allow yo...

Re: V-Racks in the Mixer
I compose for TV and film. I have a large template - around 700 MIDI tracks and 300 audio returns via VEPro. These templates are customized per show i'm working on. Basically I start from my template - Save as - Create a separate project file for EACH cue I write. I know some composers use Chunks as...

Re: V-Racks in the Mixer
Just wanted to let you know something about V-racks that was a deal breaker for me: You can't automate them.. Or at least I don't know how to. The Automation section in the mixing console is gone on V-racks. And oddly, you can't easily take a channel from the V-rack and put it into your session. If ...

Way to hear Volume Automation in real time?
Hello, Lately i've been working on a project where I've been working in Ableton Live - Rewired into DP. Everything is working great, but I noticed a "feature" in Live that seemingly isn't in DP, and I was wondering if maybe it was just me, or if it is true for everyone. In Live, when you a...

Re: Kramer Master Tape
The preset they have under Mastering --> Soft Compression..
So good. Subtle, but adds that extra "glue" to the mix!
I use it every time!

+1 ..screw it.. +1,000,000 Just wanted to bump this up. I've been having horrible CPU spike problems for awhile, and just been dealing with it through the season.. I knew it was video related because if I "cleared movie" my problems would go away.. But I score to picture.. thus my need for...

Re: Putting a screen in front of singers...red light-itis?
I put a monitor in the iso booth that mirrors one of my 2 monitors. (I use a VGA splitter) I use it all the time for players to show them MIDI that they are replacing or playing to, show a vocalist waveforms to sing with, etc. It seems to help more than it does distract. I use a small monitor. I'd b...

Re: Live Composition Screencast with DP8 on new Mac Pro
It was just confusing that he said "template is still on PC, will consider moving to Mac Pro..." if he's using a Mac for DP, then I must know his secrets!! What did you sacrifice to the DP Gods to get such a seemingly, wonderfully large, well working template?!? I've found my max is around...

Re: Live Composition Screencast with DP8 on new Mac Pro
I use the M-Audio Oxygen 49 which was 8 sliders and 8 twist knobs. All completely assignable in DP. Although I don't have them set up to anything specific, I'll assign them when need be during the project. DP makes it pretty easy when you just right click on a fader or knob and "attach MIDI con...

Re: Editing MIDI data defaults to Tempo Changes not Volume
Nevermind.. You can delete this post. It was because it was a "custom" parameter that the tempo change thing came up. He seemed to have "added similar track" to everything in the template so they were all like that. Simply switching back to volume stuck.. False alarm..

Editing MIDI data defaults to Tempo Changes not Volume
Hey all, Trying to help a friend out and can't seem to figure it out, so I'll turn to you all! When you double click a MIDI track, it opens the MIDI editing window. At the lower half is the MIDI data (volume, on/offs, velocity, sustain, etc.) Now on my rig, it defaults to MIDI volume, which is all I...

Re: CPU Processing Power
Maybe i'm just not articulating it right, or using the right terms.. Sorry to have caused confusion.. Again, whatever the case is, my point is that they are not one in the same. DP's meter is encompassing other "things".. whatever they may be.. I think though, the original post was more ab...
