Mojave & MIDI XT
I’m configuring a new iMac for use with PT. Encountered a problem with MIDI XT interface, and followed all the steps outlined on MOTU website - security prefs etc. Mac Audio/MIDI setup still fails to recognize hardware. Same with MOTU Discovery. Tested that cable works for other hardware. Help! http...

LaCie problems
After a tragic system crash, my external Lacie drive has performed erratically. Of course the warranty is expired, but how can I confirm if the drive itself is faulty or if perhaps the issue is within the G4 - like the USB bus? Upon launching the Lacie at startup, audible "clicking" noise ...

4.12 and Tiger
So, I was happy as a clam on 4.12 and yet mildly considering a DP upgrade. My wife updated us to Tiger (10.4.7 currently), and now DP crashes every time I press PLAY. Projects load fine, but "unexpectedly quit" messages appear everytime I press PLAY. Probably a pretty basic question, but i...

MP3- LAME - iTunes - Need Help Please
Thanks for the responses, and for the tip on Version Tracker. I will check it out. To clarify re: iTunes & mp3 - I know that iTunes will create mp3 CDs, provided the source file is also mp3. To my knowledge iTunes does not convert from one format to another, TRUE? For example: Even with iTunes I...

MP3- LAME - iTunes - Need Help Please
This week, I did recordings of a live choir - quite unlike my typical solitary studio work. The members have requested that I upload edited mp3 song files to their internet site. I've now learned that mp3 is not a directly supported export format for 4.12 The google and forum searches I've conducted...

Apple DLS Music Device Not Found
After a system crash, failed backup restore, and re-install of OS 10.3 from CD, am struggling to put things "right". I'd prev used Apple DLS Music Device for Soundfont files, but DLS is no longer available from the Add tracks menu. I believe that I have Setup -> Interapplication correct......

Re: Vocal Tracking
OK - time for me to resurface, and acknowledge the great feedback to my little post. Seriously folks, I do more reading than posting on this board, but I have many things to digest here. FYI - comparable thanks to respondents to my UAD-1 post too (i don't want to bump that thread for mere thanks alo...

UAD-1
Really considering one of these, given the positive nods I've read right here in the forum. My question is aimed at existing users (some, I see, are holding off on a TIGER upgrade in honor of UAD compatability): Price range: $400 - $1200 (Project - Ultra). How satisfied are Project users? Anyone fee...

Vocal Tracking
Can the forum's resident experts chime in with their tricks of the trade for achieving natural vocal tracks? I understand this is a pretty subjective issue, but I'd benefit from any tips: from signal path, to the gear/plugs you employ. OK - first off, by "NATURAL" I mean punchy, but not ov...

Re: simple question??
FYI - April 2005 edition of ELECTRONIC MUSICIAN has an article on the Pros/Cons of DSP hardware.
I found it helpful - but I'm also fascinated by small shiney objects...

Re: how record the sound from Apple Software Synth
I'm going to jump on this thread, instead of startinbg a new one.... Hope no one minds? I frequently trigger a loud, jarring, unwanted "SONIC BOOM" when selecting new DLS, soundfont patches, etc. Scares the hell out of me each time. I've grown rather superstitious, and have taken to muting...

Re: Love the mouse or leave the mouse?
Have been contemplating the same thing lately. I read all about the MACKIE UNIVERSAL, but was a bit dissapointed when I checked it out in person. For being so pricey, it felt rather cheesey to the touch. It wasn't hooked up or anything (gotta love Guitar Center), so really have no details on ease of...
