iZotope has a couple of plug-ins that might help: Trash and Vinyl. Vinyl is free and a lot of fun.

Re: CPU maxed out - mystery solved
Hi MCKarkus -- My MacBook Pro is an Intel Core 2 Duo. Does you think that would explain the difference in readout?HCMarkus wrote:I haven't used DP's CPU Meter for years but Apple's Activity Monitor is always visible on my desktop. Once we got multi-processor Macs, DP's meter was obsolete.

Re: CPU maxed out - mystery solved
wrong preference settings and lack of knowledge regarding proper setup of any app does not mean there is a bug this is just pilot error, you will learn from your mistakes much faster if you accept you don't know everything about DP rather then pointing fingers at Motu and proclaiming this is a bug a...

Re: CPU maxed out - mystery solved
The bug - as I've explained - is that the CPU meter in DP does not report accurately, at least not on my machine. This is not a misinterpretation. This is either a bug for all users or a glitch in my system. I have read most of the manual (which I am most grateful for and refer to constantly), but I...

Re: CPU maxed out - mystery solved
There is no authorization count for DP so you will have no problems creating a test volume. Ah. That helps. Oh wait... the drive I ordered is a RAID-1 Mirrored redundancy setup (OWC Guardian Maximus). That's probably not a good drive to test with because it's slower a normal 7200 RPM drive. Is that...

Do you have an external drive that you can install a fresh copy of the OS on and DP alone? I would give that a try, boot from it and see if you can duplicate this crashing behavior. Also, what OS are you currently running and did you upgrade to it from an older version? (ie 10.4 to 10.5; 10.5 to 10...

Re: File Import Bug - FOUND!!
Glad you found a solution to your problem. I don't have time to go over it detail by detail with you, but I will say that this forum is privately run... not by MOTU. I do this out of a desire to help the community and have a good time here with other DP users. It's easy to be frustrated, but a bit ...

Audio Toolbox
The other possibility is that your crash log references the CoreAudio "AudioToolbox.Framework" in Mac OS X: http://homepage.mac.com/psychesine/.Public/Core%20Audio%20Frameworks.txt Thanks so much for doing that research! I should have thought to check Google. From what you found -- AudioT...

crash
At Magic Dave's request, I updated to 7.1 for further testing. No more than 20 minutes into my tests, the crash returns. Sent my new crash report to Magic Dave. I have all my plug-ins turned on except for the MOTU Dynamics plug-in. Oh well, guess I don't know what is going on.

Bug solved!
If I offended you by calling you a poor sap, I'm truly sorry. I've had a MOTU Tech Link out since the 6th about the crashes I have been experiencing and, until my post yesterday in which I announced a bug, MOTU had not responded. In fact, I have had several questions out that have gone unanswered fo...

Re: File Import Bug - FOUND!!
Why do you take the time to post all that, if your opening paragraph is an INSULT to the rest of us? No insult intended. I'm just venting frustration (perhaps inappropriately). I wasted a lot of time dealing with this stuff. And you want "free updates for life" because you are having some...

Re: File Import Bug - FOUND!!
I don't know if you're in the mood for more testing or not (doesn't sound like you are), but I would ask if the same problem occurs if you turn off Automatic Conversions and set the Audio File preferences to BWAV before you import? I'd also like to know if the problem occurs if you import AIF files...

Re: Fixed/Not fixed/Broken in DP 7.1
Have you the pre-fill buffer uncheck in the studio settings? When it's on, there is a big load on the CPU when the project is stopped... And can I ask you how many tracks is the project, what sample rate and what buffer size? Have you try to activate only the DP plugins? This screenshot will show y...

CPU maxed out - mystery solved
[[ -- this post has been edited to avoid misleading you. -- ]] I was mistaken about there being any File Import Bug. If you experience what looks like CPU overload when your project is idling and you don't know why it's happening, open the Background Processing preferences and check the box to "...

Re: Fixed/Not fixed/Broken in DP 7.1
Interesting that Pappy says he is having the same problems and using the same MacBook Pro. OK, here's my latest research. Sorry about the length of the post, but I think this is the best way to show you what's going on. I removed all traces of DP and reinstalled DP6, then upgraded to DP 6.02 using t...
