It's not that I don't want onboard...just it doesn't have it. The board is here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6813131358. Didn't really give Gigabyte a chance since I was burned by them a couple years back. Maybe it's time to look into them again though. Thanks.

On a side note, I just relized that I am also getting a static sound from the left speaker at steady intervals. Quiet, but kinda sounds like (tss....tss....tss.....tss...tss).

Edit: It went away after changing the sample rate from 48000 to 44100.

TI Firewire PCI-Express Chipset

I am doing research into an i7 rig but the board I am looking into has no onboard firewire and only PCI-Express 8x slots. 896mk3 pops/clicks/static on startup

Just wondering, when I turn my 896 on the unit sends a static/pop/click sound through the monitors while it is initializing. After the 'Loading Cuemix' screen is done, then it is quiet again. Doesn't seem to effect it in a DAW, but I'm just wondering if that is natural? The power layout is APC UPS (...
