Re: Recommendation / opinion on drum track quantize
Thanks bjornin. I will have a look at that. Since I was in a rush I got some help from a friend who is a longtime Logic user. I happen to have Logic Pro X so he walked me through a few steps. These steps involved creating a new Logic Pro X file at the same tempo, time signature, sample rate and then...

Re: Recommendation / opinion on drum track quantize
Thank you, normally that would be an option but not in this particular case for a variety of reasons. Basically all I'm looking to do is to find a very quick way to split the entire track up into drum hits. If I can get there, that will accomplish my need for the moment.

Recommendation / opinion on drum track quantize
Hello I checked a couple other posts in this thread but I would like to ask for a recommendation and I thank you sincerely in advance... Recently recorded a rhythm section, drummer was playing a low cost electronic kit where I could only get a stereo mix output for the kick, snare and hat and even s...

Re: Transcribing, Beat Detection & Variable Tempos
There's a free 3rd party Mac application "MIDI PatchBay". I think I have a patch set up in there to go from DP's inter application DP Output to DP Input but I'm not 100% sure it's necessary or if the process can be done without that utility.

Transcribing, Beat Detection & Variable Tempos
I was asked recently to transcribe some old jazz tunes. Several source tracks had tempo changes and rubato sections. I wanted to put each reference track into a sequence where I could align the measure starts and beats in the sequence with the track and then just play along, record MIDI against the ...

A little bit of praise...
Hello, everyone. I know there are a lot of posts that are identifying problems or challenges with MachFive but I just wanted to relate a positive experience. MachFive v3 saved my butt today. I had to WRITE, record, produce and mix a 30 second tune in under 4 hours. Some of you might be able to do th...

Re: DP copies/erases data randomly it seems
I can confirm that enabling all the checkboxes in the Global tab of the View Filter seems to be at least one way to solve this problem (at least in my rig). I previously had several "custom" mini menu presets saved for the view filter. I also deleted those presets before I enabled all chec...

Re: Using QuicKeys with DP (or other external macros)
Agreed on the point of being cautious of using mouse movements in QK sequences. Basically what's worked for me upon making a new QK macro; 1). I find ways to do what I want to do using only the keyboard then record those strokes. Example - opening up the quantize dialog with apple-0. Then tabbing be...

Re: External MIDI Audio Playback/Recorded Late
390 samples at 44100 is about 8mS. MIDI is 31.25 kBaud, 3125 bytes per second can be sent and it's serial, so one at a time. A realtime note on event is only 3 bytes long, I think it's somewhere around 320 microseconds to send a single MIDI byte due to the transfer speed, so you figure 1 millisecond...

Re: DP copies/erases data randomly it seems
I'm having this issue too in 7.24 and have not been able to solve the problem since the last post. Thank you for continuing to update this thread. I'm hopeful for the new suggestion and I'll try that and report back. Admittedly I have customized my view filter settings in 7.24 to what works for me. ...

Re: DP copies/erases data randomly it seems
Agentofrandom, Williemyers, vladat - THANK YOU! for posting this. I've been occasionally frustrated with this since purchasing DP7 as an upgrade from (very very old) DP2 and using DP5 at work. I contacted DP tech support last year on this but they hadn't heard of this problem yet. Just so you guys k...

Re: I think the audio sounds different
When it comes to an evaluation of sound quality, I'm personally very appreciative to hear opinions, but unfortunalely I have also grown extremely skeptical when I hear claims about any one or the other thing sounding "warmer" or "better", etc. Especially with respect to software....

Re: Is DP8 unusable?
I've stuck with DP for many years, since the late 80s and I am relatively productive on DP at current (with one caveat) and rely on it to help make my living. However I have always in the past been extremely cautious about upgrading and once I have a system working, it stays that way for a long time...
