Re: Windows 7 drivers?
I'm assuming changing the Firewire driver like listed above worked? I tried to install W7 with the 8pre and had same problem noted, DEVmgmt showed it as "No Drivers". ANd also would blue screen me. Lando

Re: my motu 8pre just records lazer gun static.....
I'm having similar issue, just posted, but actually can't get my 8pre to work at all in 64OS. Does the actual chipset actually makr a difference? I am using the intergarted firewire on my motherboard, maybe that's an issue?

Motu 8pre & Vista 64x??
Anyone having any luck with the Motu 8pre 64 drivers for vista? I ahve tried twice and even with latest drivers it always fails and doesn't work properly. I already tried allowing unsigned drivers from boot and command line. I am a tech so tried all the obvious stuff. Just wondering if anyone has an...

Re: I'm ditching my PreSonus Firepod's and an looking for advice
Same here guys, I was using the firepod fow a while and it always had a cold/not phat sound. I even bought the Firestudio one day and got so many pops at normal latencies. Went back to Sam ash and came home with a 8pre and love it. Motu has a phat warm sound. In fact, I am running server2008 with al...

Re: Windows Server 2008 & Motu 8pre!
I haven’t had any issues with Vista with a good clean install and disabling of a few services, no more than you’d do in XP. I haven’t played around with X64 because I’m using Nuendo 3.2 and it won’t work on on X64. But since I use a lot of orchestral Libraries for scoring I have a tims set up older ...

Windows Server 2008 & Motu 8pre!
Two Words... Pure Heavan. This is by far the greatest DAW I’ve ever had. It is a pure pleasure to compose on this rig. Server 2008 is amazing, fast and powerful. There are some twaeks to get Server to run like a desktop and a regisrty twaek to make it treat audio like Vista. It is basically the same...

Re: Getting past the "Church Modes"
2-5-1 in the key of Cminor -
1- D half dininished (play F minor major)
2 - G7 altered (Play A flat minor major )
3 - C minor/major 7 (Play C Minor /Major)
Of course the voicings as chords are right there in the names EX -"Sus Flat Nine" second degree of the scale.

Re: Getting past the "Church Modes"
exactly, on the 2-5-1 minor progression in C-7 that I wrote, you could just play C-7. This would be ok and a bit boring but works. But when you play those modes it's a lot cooler :) After you learn the modes it's always the same and becomes second nature like we think about our major scales. Helps w...

Re: motufwa.sys crashes Vista???
While I agree, these RAID cards are the usual suspects in system errors and such (Have been working with servers for years)... I really hope not :( Dropped $300 for one with an on board processor to offload from the cpu like these "fake" built into motherboard raid solutions do. I just did...

Re: motufwa.sys crashes Vista???
Thanks for the reply Reeper, yes all intel, motherboard and Quadcore. And actually did do a clean install last night and downloaded the latest Firewire driver that they just released. So gonna give that a shot. And that is a good idea, do one app at a time and test. I mostly use Nuendo 3.2 and all t...

Re: Getting past the "Church Modes"
We use these all the time in Jazz, in fact most modern jazz/fusion is all based on the Minor/Major scale or Minor Major harmony rather than the Basic Diatonic approach of the major scales. We use numbers instead of names as it's easier to learn in terms of numbers or modes rather than thinking about...
