DP8 in W8
My Windows 8, 4 core 64 bit HD editing machine has 12GB RAM and can handle HD video in real time but so far although it works DP8 performance is very sluggish and it crashes often. Using Reason in Rewire slows it to a crawl. My iMac with only 2 cores and 4GB RAM easily outperforms it.

working at A 432 rather than 440
I have been asked to record my next project at A 432 rather than 440 hz (see http://www.omega432.com/music.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for the why). Can anyone tell me how to set this up in DP? I use a number of plug-ins for sounds. I also use Reason but you can adj...

Re: combining DP files
Yes with full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution. Its not a brilliant card just an old Nvidia I had lying around. I edit using Cineform 4K HD intermediate avi or mov files using their free player but it should work with straight QT mov files too. I would think that anything powerful enough to display the res...

combining DP files
Can I import one DP project into another and if so does it retain its format and tempo settings? I'm a jack of all trades indi producer/director/cameraman/editor/compositor/animator/musician etc. I freely admit I am master of nothing and learn what I need to know usually just before I do it. It work...

Re: Working Practice
maybe you can start by playing some other 5p1 stuff from reputable origins on your system? look at the meters very closely - whats channels are moving in what scenes.. if you are in a properly calibrated room I'm of the opinion its easier to mix in 5p1 than stereo - more space! the harder bit perha...

Re: Working Practice
Well in that case I can work with a stereo mix until I've learnt how to do the 5.1 stuff. I need to do that anyway for people who don't have surround sound. It can't be that hard and I don't suppose it will take a year to figure it out. Being retired is brilliant you can still do the same stuff but ...

Re: Working Practice
You might be successful doing it by the seat of your pants. I do everything by the seat of my pants. It's seems to have worked so far, I retired when I hit fifty. I have been having fun ever since. I will keep your suggestions in mind but its been fun working out the how to's. My ears tell me when t...

Working Practice
I am three years into a somewhat massive project which I have produced, directed, written, filmed, scored and engineered. Never having done any of this before it has been somewhat of a huge learning experience but its nearly there and people who have seen it say the results are quite impressive. The...

Re: 5.1 no LF channel ?
Thanks the master fader was all it was. What a silly feature to have it off as the default!

Re: 5.1 no LF channel ?
DP's panners default with the LFE fader down
Thanks but I did find that and have them up. I get 6 channels of good signal but only 5 go out. Swapping 3 and 4 in the bundles just swaps the problem so its in DP somewhere...

5.1 no LF channel ?
I have recently moved to DP6 from Audition because good as it is it just could not keep up. In Vista its a dead dog anyway. It follows several other DAWs ground into the dust by my creative process. At the moment that is soundtrack creation. I quite like DP6 its way ahead of me most of the time. I l...

Re: Motu 828 on Windows XP64
My 828 Mk3 works very well in XP 64 and runs with no problems. Just make sure you remove any old drivers if you have been using another card before you install it.
