Lost Insert Settings?
...just a quick question. Just got my copy of DP 7 plus the upgrade to .2. Wow, a world of difference. I had basically given up on DP, 6 was completely unstable for me, constant crashes, but 7 is just fantastic, not to mention with 6 the screen was so bright that I could only use it by reversing the...

Re: DP and the Yamaha Motif XS8
...I hate not being able to post at work! Thanks for all the help. Nazrat, I wish I could try inserting your code, but since I don't have a MIDI Device Folder to start with, there is no where to put it. That's odd because I would have thought that since I use an ultralite for my MIDI connection (I u...

Re: DP and the Yamaha Motif XS8
...thanks all for the fast advice. I did get the firewire (and Yamaha studio manager as standalone) working. I then created a new device and wired it to the firewire. But when I created the device, the xs8 wasn't listed so naturally the patches are all wrong. I did get the patch names from digicake,...

Re: DP and the Yamaha Motif XS8
...hey thanks for the reply. One question. I didn't have a MIDI Devices folder under the Library/Audio folder. I created one (MIDI Devices/Motu/Yamaha) and put the midnam file there, but when I created a new device, the Yamaha XS8 isn't on the list so it doesn't call up the right patches. Do I need ...

DP and the Yamaha Motif XS8
...just two quick questions. 1. I've only used virtual instruments up to now, but I'm trying to hook up my XS8 to DP. I have it connected via firewire, it shows up in MIDI devices and the test setup shows it working. But when when I add a MIDI track, my only available output is IAC Driver 1-16 (I gu...

Re: Metronome Doesn't Click First Measure
...fyi, for anyone who might be interested (which in all likelihood is exactly zero since this didn't generate any responses). Per MOTU's reply, this issue has been solved with the 6.03 release. And sure enough, that's all it took. It's nice when there's an easy solution

Metronome Doesn't Click First Measure -- RESOLVED
...I'm sure this is something pretty obvious, but when I record, the metronome sounds for the countoff, but then goes silent for the first first measure then continues smoothly. Is there something I need to change? I don't have any special beats or count patterns going, but it never clicks on the fi...

Re: Screencast of Composing with DP
...fantastic discussion here (and fantastic compositions!). I just have a couple of questions here because I've been having difficulties getting DP to be stable with lots of VIs, dropped samples, etc. 1. Does Bidule work with EWQLSO (and other VIs) as it does with Kontakt? And would I be able to loa...

Re: Starting Out Questions -- QT, File Size, File Transfer, Etc.
...hey FZ, Thanks so much for the answer. That's exactly the kind of info I was looking for, just some pragmatic, basic guidance in terms of clients, costs and project logistics! I just want to sound at least semi-literate to start. And especially thanks for the tip about (ed:sending) in a 30-second...

Starting Out Questions -- QT, File Size, File Transfer, Etc.
…sorry to bother you all with some really mundane, basic questions, but here goes. I know a guy who knows a guy who knows an agency producer guy who is producing a simple 10-minute sales/product videotape (simple sales force stuff) and suggested that I give this last guy a call to see if I could get...

Re: Importing MIDI Files, Slowing Down Playback, Tied Notes
...again, thanks for the answers, and dwet, I wasn't offended at all, just perplexed that I couldn't find it where you referenced it. But on page 17, bingo, IMPORTING/EXPORTING MIDI FILES VIA DRAG AND DROP using the word 'import'. What's odd with that is it makes me question why that subhead wasn't ...

Re: Importing MIDI Files, Slowing Down Playback, Tied Notes
... 1. Hey thanks for the answers to #1. Regarding the manual, I might be completely wrong, but I certainly couldn't find where in the DP6 Getting Started manual it says how to import a MIDI file into a DP Project. FYI, chapter 11 is on recording MIDI and it's nowhere to be found. Neither was the ma...

Importing MIDI Files, Slowing Down Playback, Tied Notes
...three quick questions which I can't seem to find the answer to. 1. How do I import (insert) a MIDI file into a current DP sequence (I want to bring in a Finale file)? 2. For a sequence linked to a movie, is it possible to slow down the metronome in order to record more complex sections (complex b...

Re: DP and CPU Usage
...hey mm, 256 is the highest I can live with, so I'm gonna set it there for now. But a couple of threads over, mongoose gave me a tip to eliminate pre-filling of buffers and running all plug-ins in real time and I'm hoping that that might have helped a bit.
Thanks
Thanks

Re: Is there a more stable Mac OS for DP6?
...hey mongoose, thanks for the info. My fingers are crossed. I unchecked pre-fill buffers, set all plug-ins to run in real time and it's actually not crashed in the last five minutes. Of course, all I've done is loop a five second MIDI track, but earlier today, that was taking DP down in short orde...
