I ended up reinstalling windows which fixed the problem.

yeah i have. In cuemix only the analog channels are available for output and in the MOTU audio console under the 828mk3 tab there are only 4 drop down menues available and they only let me choose analog aswell.

Not in that menu section. Furthermore within cuemix the main outs are shaded out in the drop down list under the monitor level button. Any idea what would cause that?

I had finally gotten the 828 to work properly and was using it with no problems but now i dont have the main outs from the control panel > sounds and audio devices > sound playback - default device menu. I use to have the main outs in the drop down list but now they are missing and only the MOTU ana...

finally had to go and spend another $140 on a expresscard expansion card with firewire (belkin) which fixed the problem. I think they should make it clearer that it isnt going to work with all firewire chipsets.

someone really should point them to this post. Even just an explanation wouldnt go astray.

My laptop is a HP dv9007tx to be exact if that helps

thanks for your help. I have managed to install the drivers after numerous attempts and device manager says they are working fine but no program detects the 828 even though its plugged in. I will have a go at getting the latest drivers.

the chipset is microsoft i believe.

The installation freezes up during install after the hardware device is detected and the couple of times it has installed after waiting ages it still doesnt detect the 828 even though its still plugged in after the install?

Im using winxp sp2 with an onboard firewire card on my laptop.

Im in Australia and i posted a message on the 24th and its still unread also. So much for a response in 1 to 2 business days...
