Unless you're dealing with MIDI only and all your vi's and instruments are out board, dealing with chunks for film scoring is not recommended imo. When scoring to picture in and out points for music are really critical. So doing it all in one sequence may work but it also may affect your judgement a...

Yeah I'd go with an SSL master bus compressor over the master bus, and use a completely transparent limiter just to prevent clipping on tracks that need to be slammin'.
