This year's show can finally be considered complete now that the 2013 NAMM Oddities are now online :) There was the usual collection of unusual products that spring eternal from the fertile minds of the mad scientists of the music world. http://otheroom.com/namm/ I hope y...

Re: Etch filter from FXpansion now $20 AudioMidi NoBrainer

Fxpansion has told me that it's in their bug tracking database. With any luck it will be fixed in the next update.

Re: Etch filter from FXpansion now $20 AudioMidi NoBrainer

I picked it up and there's a serious issue with DP 7.24. When you insert it on a track it kills all the audio. Bypassing the plug-in does nothing to remedy this. I contacted fxpansion support and was told that in DP I had to send a signal to it's side chain input. If I duplicate my track, assign it'...

Re: Waves Webinar with a Pleasant Surprise!

Overall, I think that Waves did a good job of capturing the non-linearities and character of the original hardware in their entire API series of plug-ins. The 2500 works really well as a buss compressor and as an individual track compressor. The Knee, Thrust, and New/Old controls make allow it to wo...

Re: Crysonic shows itself again SpectraLive V4 VST version o

I gave up on Crysonic a while back. I had problems using many of their plug-ins with DP and they were virtually unresponsive for the two years I tried to use them.

Re: Waves Webinar with a Pleasant Surprise!

Thanks for the compliments guys. The webinars were done to tie in with a book that I wrote about mixing with Waves plug-ins and in the book I also put in a plug for DP. I've been a MOTU software guy since I got Performer back in 1989. I ended up doing three webinars for Waves. In addition to the one...

2011 NAMM Oddities

The 2011 NAMM Oddities are finally online. Due to circumstances beyond my control, these pages are nearly four months overdue. Better late than never.

Thanks for verifying that for me. It looks like an external DI will be the way to go for him.

Re: Microbook inputs question

That does seem kind of vague. If you have time to check it out I'd appreciate it, I'm investigating this for a friend. My ULN-8 allows me to switch the input level and impedance for all the inputs and I was wondering if the Microbook does the same. I suppose if input 1 was just a mic-level input I c...

Microbook inputs question

The info online about the Microbook inputs indicates that one input is mic-level and the other is instrument-level. I was wondering if the drivers will let you configure both inputs to accept instrument-level/impedance signals? I've got a friend that I would like to collaborate with who has a Ricken...

Re: NAMM Oddities 2010

I concluded that for a wind player and keyboardist, it is a less natural interface than either a keyboard or wind controller. It has rows of buttons, and I found that awkward vs. one linear arrangement of notes. Others might not find it so. At any rate, the mouthpiece is less responsive than I'd ho...

Steve Wilkinson had posted a me.com gallery but that seems to be gone now.

I took two pictures:

Re: NAMM Oddities 2010

Don't think this one has RSS features... phpBB 3.0 that is. I'm on a beta board using phpBB 3.0 and I found that the RSS feed didn't really help much because of the unthreaded nature of the feed. It ended up being easier to just remember to keep checking during the beta cycle. Although View New Pos...
