DP and Pitch Names for Toontrack Superior Drummer?
OK, I used to do this, so I know it can be done, but I'm damned if I can figure it out at the moment... I'm trying to get reasonable pitch names in the DE (drum editor) in DP9 for a SD (Superior Drummer from Toontrack) VI track. By default, it comes up just with raw pitch names. I can select any of ...

Re: DP 7.21-MacPro 6core-Reaktor 5.5
In order to apply the Reaktor 5.5 update, you need to have some version of Reaktor 5 installed. From the update notes:
Reaktor 5 was a paid upgrade from Reaktor 4...Please only apply the update to an already activated Reaktor 5 installation.

Re: DP Control Wish
I'd love for the "new take" button to be on the same page as the transport controls, as that's what I use most of the time... Maybe we could re-arrange the buttons ourselves, so we can each place them as we find most convenient for your workflows, or something. Meter bridge would require a...

Re: First Film Scoring Report WIth 7.2/Possible Problem?
Quicktime movies can have what is called a "long" or "short" frame as their first and/or last frames. This happens when the movie was output via a capture card, and/or captured via a capture card, and the card needs to synchronize the first frame to its internal sync. This "...

Re: Audio MIDI Setup doesn't remember arrangement of devices
Weird, my AMS setup does not exhibit this problem. I wonder if it's an issue with files that have been carried over from PowerPC to Intel? I think I may have rebuilt my AMS setup from scratch after the transition to Intel. The actual document files for the AMS setup (i.e. ~/Library/Audio/MIDI Config...

Re: Live music video question
I've done this quite a bit with my own band, and can tell you that the biggest hassle has always been keeping the multiple camera and audio sources in sync. The clocks on cameras are generally really bad, and unless you have a common clock, they will all drift apart. Without common timecode and a co...

Re: Video Delay When Outputting to FW DV Stream
DP does DV latency correction (which is what my old DVLA component used to do). Basically, it sends frames to the DV data handler 7 frames (or whatever, you set the number) early during playback, so that they appear on the external monitor and on the screen at the same time (and in sync with the aud...

Re: Room tone generator?
That would be the "Smooth Audio Edits..." feature, which can be found in the Audio menu. Basically, you select a couple edits that are spaced apart (with silence between them), and you tell DP to "Smooth" the edits, and it places room tone between them. It does not synthesize roo...

Re: How to filmscore in Digital Performer
Often separate stems of dialogue, music and effects are required at the final stage as well to ease in localizing the video/film. The dialogue track and be replaced with a local-language-dubbing stem, and the effects track can be touched up for cases where the effects should be changed for different...

Re: Superior Drummer Crash in DP 7.02
I'm not having any problems with Superior Drummer 2.2.1 with DP 7.02... Have you found anything in particular that triggers it? Just closing the edit window and playing works fine for me (MBP, 10.6.2, DP 7.02, SD 2.2.1)...

Re: Another eSoundz Group Buy for Drums...
Does anyone know if the drum kit libraries in this group buy will load directly in Kontakt? I'm a bit leery of having to rely on Sonic Reality to support the Infinite Player plugin, which is claimed to be based on Kontakt technology, when I already own Kontakt... Just yet another point of compatibil...

Re: 23.98 fps SMPTE!
The literature you site is not the SMPTE spec, then... The difference really is 1000/1001, and it is for 29.97 as well (which is actually 29.97002997002997(repeats)...). It does increase the frame period by exactly 0.1%, because period is the inverse of rate , so the ratio is 1001/1000 for period, b...

Re: 23.98 fps SMPTE!
Are you referring to LTC signal? I don't know of any hardware that will generate 23.976 fps LTC, but you can generate 24 fps LTC, record it to a 48kHz audio file, and then hack the sample rate on the file to 48048Hz. Then when you play that back, the playback engine in DP (or FCP or Avid) will sampl...

DP7 Guitar Effects and GuitarRig3
Thought I'd cross-post the email I sent out on motu-mac regarding my impressions of the Guitar Effects in DP7 (and a comparison with GR3): So DP7 finally arrived (on the 25th, I'm on the left coast), and so I decided to give the new guitar stuff a whirl with a project I've been dabbling with, and se...
