How do I move everything down one db?

Scootching the fader up just a hair made that guitar track sound a little better . . . but now I gotta scootch that bass fader up, too. Oops, now the rhythm guitar sounds a little weak. . . . I thought I was mixing, but now, after a couple of hours, I realize everything is just up a couple of db. Th...

Re: Waves Gold or DP6?

Great info, guys. But you're not making the decision any easier! I do see what you mean about the annoyance of WUP. Is there any guarantee that there will be a major new version every year, or do you just pay for the privilege of continuing to use their product and hope they get around to improving ...

Re: Waves Gold or DP6?

Thanks for your thoughtful post. I do have something like an $800 investent in waves stuck on my G4, so in that sense I'm also stuck with waves. (I went many years without upgrading anything--so I guess this is what you get! But I will note that all the stuff in my rack from that era works perfectly...

Re: Waves Gold or DP6?

OK cool. Thanks, guys. I still haven't decided but this helps. If the LA-2A and the convolution reverb are decent, I'll probably go with DP6.

Waves Gold or DP6?

Hi guys, I have a Christmas dilemma. I'm currently running DP 5.13 and a few decent third-party plugs (I find the DP freebie plugs to be pretty lackluster, with a few exceptions) on my Intel MacBook. My dilemma is that I can either upgrade to DP 6 or move my Waves Gold plugs over to my intel mac (I ...

Yep, that's what I wanted. Did the trick--I could change both tracks by the exact same amount--but yeah, now I will re-record the part.

Thanks again for all the replies, guys.

Ha. I was actually just messing around, trying to get a decent acoustic sound and ended up liking the part and thought I'd build on it. When I went to add some keys I realized I was off pitch by quite a bit. Anyway, I thought I'd take the opportunity to learn about DP's pitch capabilities. Which I t...

Simple pitch shifting of an entire soundbite

Hi. I'm still figuring out DP, and I'm stumped on something that doesn't sound too complicated, but I can't find anything in the manual. I recorded an acoustic guitar part using a close mike and a distant mike. So, two tracks of the same guitar part. Turns out I was out of tune by almost a half step...

it works with mine

I have a mac book (not pro) and a firebox. It gets power via firewire just fine. The firebox does come with its own wall wart, too. . . Yep, that's with mains and without. I just tried booting up on battery power with the firebox attached and the power light turned blue, which means we have sync! In...

I've been messing around in Setup --> Commands. There it seems you can assign MIDI to do various things in DP--although it only appears to work sometimes. . .

I'm having the same issues with my Axiom 25. When I assign the stop button on the Axiom to the stop button on the DP transport, it "sticks" when I press it. This has to be a bug.

Just bought a new mac with Leopard

Moving from G4 with OS9.2 and protools with a digi 001 to a brand new macbook with Leopard, DP5, and a firebox. I wasn't able to get 5.12 to work. Installed fine, but after attempting to record, I got hit with a MacOS error, resource not found. 5.11 works so far. I knew I was in for a learning curve...
