Re: Sample Modeling's Viola released today
A lot of ink gets spilled on the subject of stringed instrument vibrato and rightly so. Without getting overly technical, it can be produced in four ways: from the arm, from the hand, by just wiggling the fingertip, or by a combination of the above. Considering the relationship between sound product...

Re: Sample Modeling's Viola released today
Not sure what you are referring to in saying that the portamenti are "precious". As I said, I don't think a whole lot of real life violists would bother with that sort of thing in this context. One of them is between two locations on the fingerboard which wouldn't permit the slide you hea...

Re: Sample Modeling's Viola released today
Thanks for posting this. Solo strings are very difficult to sample. All things considered, this one is quite good. I have some reservations with what I hear in the demos. I'm not nuts about the instrument sampled (a bit on the bright side), the staccato (spiccato to string players) has way too much ...

Re: Finale 2014.5 is here! Finally
I see that one of the features is that Finale 2014.5 can play back at frequencies other than 44.1 kHz. ... That will be nice if true. Finale still hi-jacks the sample rate to 44.1. Best to open Finale first, then DP. Finale will tolerate other sample rates if another program makes the change after ...

I'm old. Habits die hard.
All these clever young whipper-snappers around ... wasn't like that in my day ... used to walk barefoot thirty miles to school every day in the snow ... etc.
The guys are right, the aux isn't necessary. Dammit ...

1. Create a new aux track.
2. Create a new audio track.
3. Route the aux track to the audio track.
4. Route all VI and audio outputs to the new aux track.
5. Record enable the audio track.
6. Hit record.
Should work.
Best,
Bowman.

It sounds like Erich Leinsdorf.Shooshie wrote:The conductor — a famous name, but I've forgotten which — stopped him and screamed "Mr. Labate, I'VE GOT THE BATON!" to which Labate replied without skipping a beat, "But I'VE gotta da SOLO!"

I guess I'm weird, because that is exactly what I did when I first set out to use DP.stubbsonic wrote:For a person to just read the manual is unrealistic. It is almost a 1000 pages.

Re: 828 original not present
Hi, You say your computer isn't a Mac or Windows. It would be useful if you told us what computer you are using, what operating system, etc. If you can't find the firmware download link, it may be that your 828 isn't registered with MOTU. However, given the lack of information you post I'm not sure ...

Re: Myths and preconceptions revisited: Violins
No dispute that there is prejudice against modern violins. Regarding comparison tests, however, no matter who made the instruments and when, there are number of things which need to be taken into consideration. 1. Individual playing styles: there are players, even really great ones, who simply can’t...

Re: Bounce to disk: Dropouts
Nasty, Shooshie. What a PITA. The only problem I have had of this nature was losing the first 6 seconds of bounces in certain projects. As I recall, it started in DP6 and has given me problems intermittently since. Fortunately, it's only the first 6 seconds, not bits in between. Never figured it out...

Re: Whiplash (The Movie)
The professor who was auditioning me stood directly behind me, dropping hot cigar ashes on my shoulders the entire time I was playing, and knocking my music stand over several times. Profs like that are contemptible. Auditions are, by their very nature, intimidating. You don't need some sadistic ba...
