Re: Timing audio - where am I going wrong?

The interesting thing is, the groove is potentially stronger, in that, the drummer's intentions are revealed. It's up to you how close you want to cut. If you choose quarter notes, the stretching merely takes the beats and puts them, well, on the beat. The eighth,s and swing, and etc. are between th...

Re: Timing audio - where am I going wrong?

At last, I have a solution. The analysis files are the key to the solution - indicating that the analysis itself is on a track by track basis, and there's nothing you can do to two tracks to get them to analyze the same way, in terms of tempo, for the purpose of tempo-based stretching. Copy Beats do...

Re: Pops and spikes w/DP 6.02

Are your plug-ins running in realtime? Check in your preferences to make sure Plug-ins are set to run in realtime - this can be a real nuisance if it's not. Also, I notice horrible popping from many delay plug-ins whenever there's a tempo change. Have you tried disabling the plug to see if any is to...

Re: Is there a way to Limit Tempo?

I like to "compress" my tempos mathematically. Thus: I have a scratch guitar track that was not played to a click, the tempo happens to range between 90 and 110 bpm, due to "human feel". 1) Project -> Modify Conductor Track -> Record Beats. I tap them in from my MIDI keyboard. 2)...

FF, I have posted about a few issues related to the very problem you describe. I doubt you'll get very far - I didn't. There just doesn't seem to be an understanding of, or interest in how broken this is - everyone kept telling me that the problem was my fault, but it seemed like the fault everyone ...

Yes, The imprecision you describe is multiplied within commands that utiliaze the time stretch function multiple times over in one "batch". I mean llike when you try to do a Quantize Beats Within Soundbites for example. For this command, DP tries to stretch each section as defined by the s...

Re: does anyone use Scale Time?

OK, Here's an easy test that will show you what I mean, and it'll be worth the ten minutes it takes: 1) Open a new session 2) Route the click out to DP busses, and make the inputs of six different mono audio tracks the same busses as the outputs of whatever you set the click's outputs 3) Arm the aut...

Re: does anyone use Scale Time?

It must be something about me that kills a good thread. If there can be no solution, then at least be warned: you cannot accurately scale time on audio flies with DP. By "accurately" above, I mean "sample accurate" which is what is advertised. You may not be able to understand wh...

Re: does anyone use Scale Time?

Yes! See - there's the proof. Now, the part of DP that causes this bug is also responsible for trouble using Scale Time, Groove Quantize, Spectral Effects, Quantize (beats within audio), and a few others! If someone in the know can spot this one little bug, these larger, more intensive batch uses (s...

Re: does anyone use Scale Time?

Sorry for slow response - been very busy! It's found within several operations within DP, that seem to hover arond time scaling. I have read many posts over the last sveral months that describe a bunch of digital diahrea that get created when performing tasks which create new files, such as Scale Ti...

Re: does anyone use Scale Time?

Unfortunately, there's a bug with the scale time feature when applied to audio... it creates the strangest bedlam I've ever heard in my life! If only it worked :( I've had the hardest time of my life trying to get to the bottom of this bug, but, I've finally thrown in the towel. I don't think anyone...

Re: rtas for digital performer

I'm interested in how to go about using the au-rtas wrapper in core audio, is there a thread that explains how to do this for DP 4.52?

Thanks,
-James

Re: How do I set keys for manual fades in seq. editor?

Not sure what you're getting at. I've only used something called "keyframes" when making Macromedia Flash animation. If you'd like to fade into a soundbite, all you have to do is click-drag across the area of the soundbite you'd like to fade, and hit Control + F. This will open the fades d...

Re: DP Mixer automation obnoxious MOTU issues

Do you find the automation that's recorded to favor the fader you grab, or are you mixing in realtime - like a live show? I definitely notice the grabbed fader moving more quickly than the others, but it seems to be a realtime graphics issue. I'll have a really close look at my automation dots to se...
