I did do a search of the forum on this subject before posting - I must be going blind as I missed it - though it seems that with the rapid pace of new postings repetition is inevitable.

Free Bee from SSL

It's free compressor - get it here:

http://www.solid-state-logic.com/resour ... lugin.html

There's not much to it - 3 controls, scant documentation.

Supposed to be good on drums. well? It might come in handy!

No, I was talking about the "tracks" window - you cannot hide tracks.

You can in the sequence window, just as you say, and do it in other windows too. But nowhere is there a command to do this in the tracks window as you can in PT.

Jim Tape "simulation" is just not the same as the real thing - I've tried most of them - they don't even come close. Most them incorporate a NAB tape Characteristic (encode/decode) to simulate the electronics of a tape machine - But it is the tape itself has the "sound". I'll tak...

A "Hide Tracks" command would be nice.

This is available in Pro tools and is great for cleaning up the tracks window when concentrating on only a few tracks.

alphajerk I love tape - I have a 1/2 inch two track with dolby SR - everything sounds so much better on it, even compared to an HD mix on my DV RA1000. But! Tape is really getting expensive and often hard to find. I've convienced a few clients (those who have ears) to mix to tape, but most don't wan...

Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?

As recommended, I use a secondary drive for all my virtual instruments - I think this does make a difference.

With drives so cheap now, there is really no reason not to.

Re: Motu or Garritan Orchestra?

The garrittan sounds Mikey Mouse compared to the EWQLSO - you get what you pay for I suppose - the EWQLSO isn't cheap, but as far as sounding like the "real thing" you can beat it. There are some "group" buys on the EWQLSO - which take the sting out of the price a bit. I am very ...

Re: How many tracks of EastWest Orch?

Something is definitely wrong with your setup - I am using the same computer and even with 4 instances of EWQLSO ( 32 instuments together with lots of plugs, including Altiverb (which is a Hog), I have not had problem with CPU overload.

What audio interface are you using?
