Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
George, I was unable to have any success with running two cards simultaneously as I illustrated in the posts here. Keep in mind, we are way up there on the "possible unusual conflict" list considering we are running at least 14-15 cards of different types and purposes both on the MB and of...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
Had some time tonight due to the holiday and considering I needed to open that expansion bay due to one of the dying HDD's inside, I ran a few little experiments with our secondary MOTU PCI-424(x) card. By switching the card around through a couple of slots (it is an 11 slot bay, which left me three...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
Yeah, that is essentially the route I went, for MOTU has designed their installer to only allow it to be run once; thereafter, you'd have to remove it. One thing that had not occured to me either, is the fact I have the environmental variable set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES - this might explain o...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
1) Agreed, no I/O is not working well. 2) Winter/spring of 1978-'79 took delivery of a machine with Microsoft BASIC and assembler interfaces run in ROM. How many years is that? Not counting Unix punch cards prior? Since non-linear storage was in its infancy at that time, a Disk Based Operating Syste...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
Called MOTU & could not get through unsure why; I'll have to check that with the phone carriers first as it did not even ring in. Perhaps I will have time to try again tomorrow, as someone said it has improved considerably. My last experience was not too flattering of MOTU when their lead engine...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
Windows would not tell you that it can't find drivers if you double click on the .inf when installing. It just would not happen. You are wrong Sir. It was a very odd error accompanying it in DevMgr. one I do not recall ever really seeing prior. And yeah, I pointed it at the driver, but this changed...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
You do not merit much of a response. I hope you feel all impressed with that response after not comprehending my post. I would detail this better, but it is nearly a two hour process to install and remove from the bays and some of us around here work with audio, video and the like and have not the t...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
Yes, after 30+ years, I am aware of how to navigate Windows. And did just that. The "ONLY" thing I did not feel worth wasting the effort on was pulling the 11-slot expansion bay out 4 or 5 times to try different card slots. The way the MAGMA's work and assign IRQ's and allocate memory, the...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
To add to the repository of info here, in a word, "NO." Now that is not to say that perhaps if I swapped it around all over in the expansion bay or workstation, I might get "lucky" and find that it works one place or another, but I am doubtful, just as I was when I asked the ques...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
Well that is good to hear - and yes everything can always get better - my post could have been so! lol 3-4 years ago is really when it (phone and email support) was on a par with Microsoft; perhaps worse, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt (ad they DID finally find and fix the power state issue...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
OK, thanks; I have very serious doubts about it; that's why I thought I would post and see if anyone had any experience with doing so (running two cards...) simultaneously. Well the 24 I/O would double our I/O per HD192 Interface, but - I was never a very large fan of them in comparison to what we h...

Re: Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System
I don't have time for that (calling support) unless MOTU has made a dramatic shift both in their very poor support response times as well as their knowledge and willingness to "come off" of any data. Last time I called was to solve a problem FOR THEM and they refused to get me to anyone bu...

Is it possible to run two PCI-424(X) cards in one System?
I can see by the title, I am likely to get a number of replies such as "Why would you want to???" Could we please cut that out of the discussion? I have spent an hour searching the board here only to get thousands of unrelated posts. So, does anyone know, is it possible for me to install a...

MOTU MIDI timePOS AV - Worthless WORD CLOCK OUT
OK, so maybe I am missing something here, but my MTP has a lot more expensive frequency counter hooked up to it and terminated at 75ohms (BTW, it makes no difference either way...) and with clockworks and or the unit set for word clock out at 48k x1 or "NO DIGI SUPERCLOCK" option selected ...

So, no one here knows either... Funny MOTU Tech Staff = 0!
After what seems to be about only 15 views, I guess no one here knows what the optimum native PCI Bus Latency setting might be for my PCI-424(X) card. Well I got an even more interesting response from my MOTU TechLink. Here is what the "brain" Ronan had to say about my question: There is n...
