Thanks for your replies, i agree that Traveler has some serious hw design problems, i had to changre three before finding one that works...
i'll send it into service and see what happens.

I think it's the classic case in which a cost reduction design just went a bit too far...

I just posted a problem with traveler , it's my thrid too! i had to change it twice. ch 1 is noisy even with nothing attached, the unit completely standalone... i think it comes down to luck... probably material is not top quality and a slight glitch in assembly makes a poor unit for life. last motu...

stand alone cracks on ch1

my traveler , disconected completely and therefore standalone, has cracks on ch 1 input. you see them on the led meter.
I'm afraid it's a HW issue...
Has anyone had the same experience?

Wierd behaviour; I can't really think of any logic link between the two. The obnly thing I can think of is a power shortage if you are powering the Traveler with the firewire conector.
If you are, use an external power supply.
It could be...

I would suggest you use the mac's firewire port rather than the dedicated card.

I think your choice should be dictated by your needs. If you need to make live recordings with the Traveler you can manage 4 mics and four other inputs for direct inputs from amps or outputs from external mixers. If you're only doing home recording then you might not need to have 4 pre-amplified inp...

I couldn't agree more! I posted a similar 3d some weeks ago... by the way I had to change the traveler twicw! I never got any serious reply from Motu customer care but got great assistance from the Italian importer. At the end I've swtched over to Mac and it works fine. It is true to say however tha...

I think you have a hw problem with your traveler.
Have you recently changed configurations and or removed the firewire plug?
Try the other firewire port and see if it works.

Well I've closed the issue.

I had the Traveler changed since it wasn't working. The new one seems ok.
In the meantime I'm in the process of purchasing a mac pro. for budget reasons I'd like to stick to the 2 ghz version. Anyone had experience on this particular machne?

Thanks Kell, I did in fact check the iRQ's and did find that the USB/PCI card was sharing the same IRQ as the firewire card. However I uninstalled the driver and took the USB card out and I still had problems. Today I re-formatted and loaded XP pro SP1 but even just with XP the card gives me the sam...

Well fnord, you were much more polite in you thread that I was. I am just sick & tired of this useless product! I have the same problem with the Traveler and it is suerly not a cubase problem. The issue is with Windows. I also tried loading the updates for firewire; it improved a little but not ...

If anyone is interested here is an update.
There is a windows patch for correcting a firewire problem on SP2. I loaded it and things do improve a bit although there are still clock issues and the audio sounds like an old LP with all the cracks and pops...
Any suggestions are highly apreciated.
