Are ProVerb and MW Leveler as sweet as MW EQ?
Hi, I left DP5 for Logic 8 a few years ago. I'm thinking about upgrading to 7 rather than Logic 9 and I'm wondering, are the Leveler and ProVerb as nice as the MW EQ? I always loved that plugin and I think it totally smokes the Logic EQs, but I am not trying to start a DP vs. Logic thread - just, MW...

Using Logic plugins in DP 5
Someone told me that Logic plugins appear as AU's and are therefore available in DP. Can anyone confirm this?
It would make buying Logic Studio something of a no-brainer to know that even if you don't like the program you can still use the plugs in DP.

mac mini users - are you happy?
Hi, I'm considering getting one of the Core Duo Mac Mini's and I was wondering if anyone could offer any feedback. I'm specifically curious about: 1) track/plug-in counts, with and/or without using a 7200rpm external drive. 2) is it really quiet all the time? I'm on a G4 DP1.25 right now, the "...

Opening 3.11 projects in 5.01 - "Unix Executable Files&
I have a bunch of projects from DP 3.11 that I saved to an external drive from my old computer. Now, when I transfer them to my new machine the DP file, as well as all of the audio files, appear as "Unix Executable Files". Does anyone know what's going on? The old computer was running OSX3...

Wow, that anandtech article is great! I take it all back. I stand corrected!!!!! Emulatorloo, thanks for the offer. I wish I'd talked to you before running out and buying a used dual 1.25 G4 MDD. Somehow, in all of my lurking on this forum and the tapeop board I never heard about the noise problem, ...

I posted this thread very shortly after joing this messageboard, at a critical juncture when I had to replace my only computer and make some decisions about which way to go regarding platform and recording software. I decided to stay with DP and upgrade to 5, and to buy a used G4. The information on...

http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL This is a list of hardware setups that people have gotten to run os x, with varying degrees of success. Hmmm.... I'd really love to know to what extent apple has anticipated this and/or planned on competing with windows on all machines. That would be a...

Arth, Didn't you say: Two Linux servers, two linux laptops, one Windows laptop, one Windows workstation and one SGI Workstation. I've had Macs in the past, and they were great machines for what I used them for -- it's just my particular needs that have me where I am now, mostly in the PC/Linux unive...

why not get the mac and use bootcamp to use winxp? Then you have the best of both worlds. Uhmm, don't you mean the worst of both worlds? :D My main gripe with apple is not the OS, although I do think that the way they bullied everyone into switching was a pain in the arse, particularly for people l...

Switching to a PC - somebody stop me!!!
I'm serious. As I think about the inevitable next upgrade, the scales seem to be tipping in favor of going over to the dark side. Please tell me why an apple is a good computer and not an overpriced pile of junk!!! Audioease has a chart of CPU usage of different machines running Altiverb, and an AMD...
