USB device names?

Hi All,

I have two Peavey devices that provide USB connectivity (a PV14 mixer and a Valveking amp). Both devices show up as "USB Audio CODEC" in the input/output dialogs. I'm wondering if there is some way to rename the inputs/outputs to avoid confusion. Appreciate any suggestions.

Re: DP 6 more hassle than it's worth?

Definitely yes! after fifteen years of using DP, I've given up and moved to Logic. I depend on Native Instruments plugs and got tired of waiting for MOTU to fix the myriad issues. I'm still learning Logic but so far it's been hassle free.

Re: NI plugs still broken in 6.01 (not all?)

I'm not about to spend the time to downgrade. I guess I'll just avoid the NI stuff until [if ever] MOTU gets their problems worked out. Don’t blame you – that is just how I would feel. It seems ridiculous to have to downgrade the operating system just to allow the latest software to work. Especiall...

Re: NI plugs still broken in 6.01 (not all?)

I also use Live 6 and the NI plugs work fine on both my PPC machine and my Intel MacBook Pro. hmmm, well I guess that just about sums it up. Pity the guys on PPC/Leopard, because I imagine downgrading to Tiger would be a lot of work. I'm not about to spend the time to downgrade. I guess I'll just a...

Re: NI plugs still broken in 6.01 (not all?)

Intel. They all work fine on my Intel machine too (MacBook Pro 17" 2.6/4GB 10.5.4). It's my PPC machine where I'm having the problems. And, of course, the PPC machine is my main music making computer. Here's the response and screenshot I got from another DP user I know: I didn't have time to t...

Re: NI plugs still broken in 6.01

As for me: I'm using FM8, Akoustic Piano, Massive, Absynth 4, and Reaktor5. All are latest versions. They are completely broken with the DP6.01 version of AudioUnit Support bundle; and, with DP5 AU Support bundle, they work but are unusable due to graphic anomalies. I can however, still use them in...

NI plugs still broken in 6.01 (not all?)

Just installed the DP 6.01 update on my PowerMac G5 and the NI plugins are still broken. Now, the NI plugs pass the MOTU check but as soon as I try to instantiate any NI plugin, DP crashes. Really frustrating!

I've just loaded up Akoustik Piano 1.1.3 in DP 5.13 and checked out volume control via the Mixer's MIDI fader – it works fine here, with full control over the whole range. So does Absynth 4, B4 II, Battery 3, Elektrik Piano 1.5, FM8, Kontakt 2, and Pro-53. The only one I couldn't control via CC7 wa...

Thanks anyway for the suggestion. I appreciate the input. I'm convinced it's a NI thing... or at best, a combination of things. This too shall pass.

It's a long shot JMSchur, but do you have an empty MIDI track that's assigned to the same (MIDI) destination (port and channel) sitting idly by? I've found that in order to prevent the sort of thing you're talking about I've had to de-assign any empty tracks that point to the same destination, lest...
