I received the Traveler & it's now working properly. I'm not sure what was changed since they did not detail the repairs. Anyway no more freezing when plugging FW in the second port & it's all that matters ! Congratulations to Thomann for honoring their 3 years warranty without a fuss. I did...

Dang, that's gloomy

The unit is still in transit via UPS but I'll keep you updated in this topic once I know more. I hope it's just a small problem on the FW port. Everything else worked allright. I guess that makes me a lucky one, kinda.

Unit is gone for check-up at MOTU Germany. I'm glad I bought it at Thomann since they offer 3 years warranty and mine was 1,5 years old.

I found the Motu CD today...it was in my Korg Legacy box  :D Anyway it was not the problem cos I still can't activate it. Once installation is complete when I launch AD, a box pops up asking for my name and the serial number (in AD manual). Problem is the "OK" button stays greyed out...

Thanks Dwetmaster, I was misleaded by the sentence :"A previous install and authorization of AudioDesk 2.0x is also required" on the download page. Well anyway since I don't have the CD it won't let me activate it, even though I registered it on their website. I will probably send them an ...

Hey guys, I can't find where to download audiodesk on MOTU website. I registered it when I bought my Traveler and it appears on my registration list, but it won't provide me any place to download it. I only have the "updates".

Update in case someone finds himself in a similar situation. I got the machine tested at an Apple center and the FW component is dead, it means changing the mobo... Yeeehaaaaw I got the MBP less than 7 days !!! So much for Apple quality.

The high pitch noise is a Macintel problem I think. Not XP per se, either Apple or Motu will have to fix it.

I think the only solution so far is to unplug the unit, press the buttons a few times to dissipate leftover power, replug and apply the "reset to factory default" via the MIX button. That's what I've been reading while looking for the solution to my own problem :)

There's a known fix for this error that was published by MS. You can find the update here http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/winxp-1394.html

Apply the patch, reboot, plug the traveler and you won't have the error message again in Cuemix.

Just noticed there is a big wide blank in System Profiler when I point to "Firewire"... Does it mean that the onboard bus itself is not working?

Traveler not detected by Mac OSX

Hey all, I finally decided to switch to Mac after being plagued by problems with my traveler and XP. It looks like I was not to get off the hook so easily...so here goes. I have a Macbook Pro Rev A. I installed the Motu drivers "Firewire 1.2.5" and Universal Package 1.4.2 from their site. ...

Static discharge can happen with or without the power adaptor being plugged, because it's static electricity. Like when you touch something metallic after being seated in your car and you get a discharge or when you try to clean a cathodic screen while it's turned on and ZAAAPPP, you're not plugged ...
