What I don't grasp is why the sampler can take a complex wave file and pitch it down chromaticaly, but DP's pitch functions, which mechanicaly appear to be doing the same thing cannot. When I select Pitch from the menu of a stereo file a grey bar appears that I cannot move... what would be cool woul...

do you just want to change the overall pitch of the file, as you would with a record on a turntable? I have been wanting this as part of DP for years, still no easy way to do it as far as I know.. :( Yeah, ditto. Although I would have called it "dragging my finger on the reel". :) (Differ...

-Dave I probably should have mentioned that I was trying to shift a Stereo file. DP's pitch correction is great with mono, but I'm trying to shift a bunch of stereo train whistles. Is there a way to do this with at Stereo file? Thanks for the Peak suggestion, much more reasonable price-wise. I may h...

Pitch Shifting

I was curious if anybody could explain to me why Transpose AND Spectral FX cannot pitch audio clips up or down without granulizing the result. Is it a result of trying to maintain the same duration? The problem persists regardless of the length of the clip, stereo or mono file type, or degree of cha...

I notice one needs to start the recording more than two measures before the MIDI note data begins, for several of the reverbs, or else it doesn't kick in until after a couple of measures have flown by. Look-ahead algorithm for the pre-delays? I noticed this as well and have been doing the same work...

Hi Guys, Just for information. I can use the convolution reverb on a powerbook 1Ghz with 1Gb of RAM. You just need to increase latency settings. 512 or 1024 should be ok. Of course it's hard to play in realtime in that case but playback is ok. Sure it could be better but at least you could use it o...

Agreed, BUT

Hugy, I completely agree with your post and believe I get your point The cost of software is paying for better math. Agreed. My comparisons perhaps have not been fair to MOTU. I am getting an "adapt or die" attitude from this list which is not going to get MOTU to repair our investment. I ...

I understand and completely agree with what you are saying about balancing via. part output and completely agree that the parts are not balanced due to the detail of recording multiple timbres. But the "spikes" I am refering to are of the CPU and have nothing to do with gain settings or di...

Not Kidding.

i really had fun reading your post here... You must be kidding : you're comparing Altiverb, a convolution reverb that costs from 495 $ to 895 $ depending on the format you need to a multi-format orchestral plug-in that cost half to third the price of this reverb AND, for this small price, Keep it s...

Letter to MOTU as promised: I have yet to hear back. Hey Guys/Gals, First let me say, I love the additions you made on DP5. I can't wait for my copy to arrive! Your attention to the needs of the production community are commendable. Secondly, I purchased M.S.I. A week ago primarily due to the qualit...

Turn it down?

In the meantime, I ALSO get CPU spikes from highly dynamic parts such as acoustic piano, UNLESS I attenuate that part's level by 12-18 dB or so. I translate this as saying, "Turn down the MSI output." I don't grasp how changing the volume of a part changes the amount of processing require...

Reverb CPU drains.

I don't understand why running Verb on MSI drains CPU so drasticaly, Altiverb uses similar programming and doesn't drain CPU nearly as much even at extremely long reverb times. The system requirements listed for MSI do not even come close to what my G4 1.5Ghz is running and yet I can't even have a 2...
