Thanks, Mike! Very helpful. Guess I gotta get something new.

Re: Generate 23.976 SMPTE from a Digital Time Piece?
Thanks Rick. Unfortunately I don't have a PCI-based audio system. Everything in my current rig is USB or Firewire.

Generate 23.976 SMPTE from a Digital Time Piece?
I have to give a film producer an audio file of SMPTE timecode generated at 23.976 fps, starting at 00:59:30:00 and running about 16 minutes. Can I do that with my ancient Digital Timepiece? That breaks down to 2 questions: 1) How do I control it? It has no USB port, and when I hook it up through an...

Re: patch names in General MIDI virtual instrument
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/MIDI Devices/MOTU For some reason that folder was missing from my home studio machine, but was there on my school machines! The suggestion to hack the "Default Patches.midnam" file was a good one. But it's not just the name on the "General MIDI.midnam"...

Re: patch names in General MIDI virtual instrument
I saw something on this a while ago and if I remember correctly (which is rare these days) someone copied the General MIDI.midman file to the Default Names.midnam file as some kind of workaround. Keep a good copy of the Default Names.midnam in case this is way off base. That sounds like a good idea...

Re: patch names in General MIDI virtual instrument
There is no instrument in the Bundles window that corresponds to my virtual instrument. The only instruments that exist there are hardware instruments connected to my MIDI Time Piece. I can create a new instrument in the Bundles window called "Key Rig-1" and tell DP it's a General MIDI ins...

patch names in General MIDI virtual instrument
We're using M'Audio's "Key Rig" in our lab, which is a General MIDI virtual instrument (along with a piano, organ, and analog synth module). The GM module responds to patch changes according to the GM map, which is a great teaching tool. However, in the Patch lists in DP, I can't see the G...

Okay...I had tried that before, but couldn't get any meaningful information because I didn't realize MIDI Pipe's filter function is sort of backwards: checking on a command filters it OUT. So now I've got that working, and I've checked (i.e. filtered out) everything except note on/off . And the resu...

Very interesting experiment, thank you. But no, there is no difference between playing the track using MSI inside DP and playing the track using standalone MSI through IAC. But when I switch the input in standalone MSI to my keyboard, notes get lost immediately. My keyboard is sending MIDI clock and...

Thanks. Yes, I have tried all different buffer sizes, and matched it to DP (even though DP isn't running) but to no avail. I have also raised the polyphony up to 64 to play a simple piano tune (with chords) and that hasn't helped either. Again, I have no trouble playing MSI within DP--it's only in t...

missing and stuck notes using MSI in standalone mode
I am having a terrible time with missed and stuck notes when using Symphonic Instrument in standalone mode. It works fine within DP. Anyone else having this problem? Version 1.1.3 Intel iMac, System 10.4.8 CME UF8 keyboard (also with UF6), connected via USB. Audio interface: M-Audio MBox2 Pro (but t...

Patch names getting list with multiple users
In my school lab, with nine brand-new G5 workstations, running DP 5.0 under OS 10.4.7, I have an odd problem. There are several different User accounts on the machines for different classes that meet in the lab. Our main hardware synth is a Kurzweil K2000. Our interface is a FastLane USB. When I am ...
