Basic configuration 828mkii & Cubase
Don't anyone just jump up and offer any help, cause I am rockin' now. Frustration level just got me, I guess. Later... Hey ya'll. I'm a guitar player/singer and a "noob" when it comes to home recording. I do not understand the overall "big picture" of how things work together. Wh...

MIDI mapper with MOTU 828mkii
Smokehouse, Yep, makes sense. But I need real basic info here. I have never made an attempt before to be an audio engineer and I am way over my head. What I have learned this week is that when I have the MOTU installed/selected via the CONTROL PANEL, I have NO MIDI support at all. Meaning that all t...

MIDI mapper with MOTU 828mkii
Hi everyone! I have applications that require MIDI. I have the 828mkii as a sound card in XP Pro. It works well for mp3's wav's etc, but I cannot seem to get it to play any mid files or interface to the applications requiring MIDI. Some of the apps inform me that I need a MIDI mapper. Is there some ...

MIDI and XP Pro
James, Thanks, but I have finally learned how to play MIDI files in Cubase. May issue now is that I have some PC programs that are training programs to teach and test your abilities to memorize the fretboard (on guitar). These play their sounds via MIDI. I have not been able to get them to work, sin...

MIDI and XP Pro
Thanks for all the inputs guys! I am now able to get bass, drums, & guitars, along with piano VST's working in Cubase! Glory Hallelujah! My current puzzle is how do I get the MIDI audio from my training programs to become audible??? I don't know of any way to map them thru Cubase. Is there even ...

MIDI and XP Pro
emmrecs Hey, you have finally "turned the light on" for me! I was told that the 828 would also function as a great MIDI sound generator. If it doesn't then that explains why things are the way they are. Hmmm... Well, I have this Cubase SX3 that supposedly has a synth in it. SO, does this m...

MIDI and XP Pro
Hi Resolectric, Maybe I am wrong, but when I purchased the MOTU 828mkII I was told it would serve as my sound card, MIDI, etc. I have Cubase SX3 but haven't had a chance to study it yet. I understand it has a synth built-in, but when I import a .mid file, it also just turns on the MIDI OUT light on ...

MIDI connections
Hi Paul, Oops, I tried to list everything that might be involved, but I overlooked this. The MOTU828mkII is connected via Firewire. No other MIDI device is connected at this time. My thinking is/was to get the MOTU working first, then begin adding things, like the Korg MIDI controller. Thanks, Twinkie

MIDI and XP Pro
My MOTU 828mkII works very well as a sound card for all my needs, but I recently got some software that required the use of some MIDI files and I cannot get any sound at all. The MIDI Out indicator on the MOTU unit flashes, each time I try to play a MIDI file, but no sound. I really need this MIDI f...

No MIDI at all from my 828mk2
Hi guys, I know it has been sometime since I began this post, but lets just say I have been distracted from what I enjoy. My problem is not "just" with Cubase. I recently acquired a nifty little program (tutor) that uses MIDI extensively. It doesn't work either. On the 828mk2 I get a "...

New user question re:MK828II/Cubase SX3
Hi All; Yep, this is my first question here. I have NO problem with Windows audio, MP3's, WAV's, etc. Cubase plays well, until I try to bring import a .mid (MIDI) file. I was told that I could play .mid thru this setup with awesome sound results. But I cannot get a single peep out of the speakers wh...
