I don't buy these summing comparisons. In order to take tracks that were ITB and run them to stems on a console things are goings to change drastically. You can't just run the stems through the board and hit record. The entire ITB mix you had changes and needs level adjustments, EQ adjustments, and ...

At home I Use V72 preamps, a focusrite producers pack with an apogee trak 2 for A/D and a big Ben for master clock. Also a motu 1296 is my i/o but I don't use the coverters except for monitoring. At hyde Street we couldn't get the big ben to work so we just used 4 pro tools interfaces with internal ...

But I can still monitor the results of mixes on CD from both studios ( mine, and the neve) on the same monitors and A/B the results, and I am telling you, it is not even close. That is what everyone who has heard the comparison has said. I know there are ots of factors and this isn't the fairest tes...

I used 20 stereo stems per song to the Neve.. My stems had all my DP automation and plug ins rendered into it. We noticed a difference right away, before any Neve EQ was applied and before we mixed to tape wich made it sound even better. I think the neve has a lot to do with it over other boards bec...

Advice for live keyboard setup
I am trying to set up a complex sytem that has three different keyboard controllers on stage controlling sounds that are a combination of Virtual Instruments in DP and a K2600. Does anyone have advice on how to set this up right. Is DP the right program to use or is there one that would make it easi...

I just finnished an album, three years in the making, with upwards of 100 tracks per song. Did all the automation and plug ins in DP. At the end we took it to a Neve console in stems, to try out analog summing. We could not believe the difference. it was not subtle at all. The stereo field was about...

HELP! Death Screen
I am in the middle of mixing a major project in DP 4.6. For the last few years of tracking and recording it has been nearly flawless. Now in the middle of mixing ( about every 15 minutes ) that macbre screen descends and hangs on a half lit screen with some forein font on it, and needs to be restart...

Make sure when you double a sound, with another libraries sound, that you don't simply copy the same MIDI track and double up but rather replay the track so you get the slight rythmic diversity you would get from an actual orchestra which is the big draw back of using samples. Or at the very least p...

Try putting your fingers squarely on the faders as opposed to pulling from the top or borrom of the fader. I'm not sure but it seems like it can sense that you want to make a move. Secondly if the track you are trying to effect is in automation play make sure to switch to touch or overwrite mode or ...

Appeal for Optimization
Ok I know this has been covered a lot, but lets make this be the official thread beseeching MOTU to optimize DP at least once in OS X. We do not need any new features PERIOD. My dual 2 Ghz G5 feels the equivalent of what my single porcessor G3 performed in DP3. I get about the same track counts but ...
