Your answering machine greeting could include a proviso that the caller's message may be used on the next mega hit without obligation to the caller. If the caller doesn't agree, they are free to hang up. Though, the law of unintended consequences suggests this will attract telemarketers looking for...

You need a standard release form signed but the odds of them catching it are slim i would think. Yea, I suppose a standard release form is probably the least litigious route. I would hope that, if I did use the recording, the tune I would use it in would be a hit, and the person leaving the message...

My question was hypothetical. I should clairify that the party leaving said message would not be informed of the recording's use...at least, not until said party hears it on the radio for example. :D

My thinking on this is, by leaving a message, the person leaving the message is aware of being recorded, and therefore, is granting perm...

Legal Question

Can anyone tell me if it legal to use a message from an answering machine without getting permission from the person who left the message?

Thanks.

i'd like to add to the list of people who would like to see the ability to use MIDI to control channel mutes. i don't want to buy an expensive controller for DP (well, actually I do...but I'm not going to because i can't/shouldn't :-) ) i think the fact that it's not there is pretty lame. Agreed! I...

Anyone sending this to MOTU? I don't want to mail-bomb them with a hundred copies of this, so I'm just asking, who's sent it so far? If nobody's sent it, I'll send a copy. Shooshie If MOTU isn't reading this already, they're completely oblivious to their customers needs and shall suffer accordingly...

I'm going to try reverse psychiatry (thanks, Archie Bunker)here: I don't think MOTU CAN optimize DP. I don't think they're smart enough. OSX is in version 4, and has been out for three or more years, and I think that if MOTU had the intelligence to optimize DP, they would have done it by now. So ap...

I'm crazy enough already. It probably wouldn't work. Cool idea though.
