Re: Is DP8 faster on a PC than on a Mac?

We don't need no stinkin' evidence. Of cause not. Mac's are superior :D (Don't read any further) The problem seems to be the OS-X M.A.C.H. kernel threading model. http://www.dawbench.com/win7-v-osx-1.htm Personally, as a long time Mac user, I would LOVE to get some info that could indicate that Win...

Re: Is DP8 faster on a PC than on a Mac?

Steinberg did a lot of optimisation somewhere in the v 5 cycle. So the program is rock solid on Mac (and looks much better than on windows - maybe that's why Steinberg always demo the program on Mac)). But they use some kind of "bridge between Core Audio and ASIO" that causes bad low late...

Re: Is DP8 faster on a PC than on a Mac?

Steinberg has claimed for years that windows is faster than OSX. Especially running on small buffers with low latency the difference is significant in a DAW. But Steinberg uses ASIO on windows. Things could be different for DP. But I wouldn't be surprised if on the same hardware DP would run more e...

Re: DP for iOS?

Cubasis is really nice on the iPad. Full Audiobus support and a lot more. Projects import in Cubendo.

As tablets mature so will Cubasis and the other tablet DAW's. A huge growing marked.

Does MOTU gear sound bad?

Hi, I´m in a process of upgrading my studio and I am looking at different ways to get a 16 channel 24/96 system. MOTU seems to offer this. With FW - two 8 Pre's or an 869MK3 plus an 8 Pre. Affordable and great features. Now when I read at internet forums like Gearslutz everybody seem to agree that M...

DP is clearly not their primary source of income/concern from a business standpoint and they most likely make much more money from their stand alone VIs than DP, especially since they are cross-platform in the DAW and OS sense. Aren't "MOTU's VI's" still made by Ultimate Sound Bank in Par...

The PSP mixpressor v.2 is a nice compressor. I'm trying to get rid of Waves too and this might take the place of Ren Comp.

I don't have an UAD card and find it hard to find a deesser to replace the Waves...

I guess this debate will always be around. When I work in Logic, I feel like I'm wearing chains. I can't move around, and I don't feel the freedom I have in DP. I'm always wrestling with those damned regions. Why won't Logic let you just turn them off? Shooshie Only Cubase this options. You can cho...

I guess it's hard to come up withone piece of code that really shines on both platforms. That was actually what Emagic did with Logic 4 and 5. !?!?!?! The best description I heard of Logic 5 was "baroque nightmare". Maybe it was equally rubbish on both platforms? I didn't hear that. I use...

I'd always wondered why Europe has been fairly windows-centric, even in audio world, and now I have an answer! Here in Scandinavia it's my impression that the Mac has been leading in the Music business from the early 90th. ProTool and Logic TDM in the big studios, often both. Musicians, composers a...

Cubase is not a toy, and it has it's strengths, like DP and Logic. There are good threads about problems with DP here and every professional who's looking into crossgrading should pay close attention to them. I've been amazed how well and badly DP handles things. IMO it's never a bad idea to add a ...

The only other DAWs I used are Logic and PT, and neither as far as I know can display MIDI tracks in one window the way DP can. In Logic's Matrix editor it's either one or all. No - in Logic's Matrix editor you can se the tracks you wish to se like in Cubase's Key Editor. Just set "show select...
